A14 Trunk Road, Thrapston, Northamptonshire to Felixstowe, Suffolk - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 4(1) AND 14(1)(a) AND (c), (4) AND (7) THE A14 TRUNK ROAD (THRAPSTON, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE TO FELIXSTOWE, SUFFOLK) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2023
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited(a) intends to make an Order on the A14 Trunk Road in the Counties of Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk to allow maintenance works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to take place commencing on or after 2 January 2024 and be completed by 20 December 2024.
The effect of the Order would be to:
(a) authorise the overnight closure (20.00 – 08.00) of the A14 between Thrapston and Felixstowe;
(b) authorise the closure of:
(i) all slip roads leading to and from the above length of the A14;
(ii) the laybys on the above lengths of the A14;
(iii) the gaps in the central reservation on the above length of the A14.
During the closures traffic would be diverted via junctions of the A14 and local roads.
The duration of each closure would vary depending on the nature of the maintenance work being undertaken on each occasion.

The closures (which would not apply to emergency service, traffic officer or works vehicles), and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs.
The Order would come into force on 2 January 2024 and have a maximum duration of 18 months.
