The A30 Trunk Road - Temporary Restriction And Prohibition Of Traffic
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a)
THE A30 TRUNK ROAD (SOURTON) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2023
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (a) has made an Order on the A30 trunk road in the County of Devon to allow drainage improvements and associated maintenance works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to take place commencing on or after 4 December 2023 and be completed by 28 March 2024.
The effect of the Order will be:
(a) to impose a mandatory 50 mph speed limit on the A30:
(i) eastbound from Stowford Cross Junction to Sourton Cross Junction;
(ii) westbound from Meldon Junction to the overbridge 2.6 miles west of Sourton Cross Junction;
(b) authorise the overnight (20.00 to 06.00) closure of:
(i) the A30 eastbound and westbound between Liftondown Junction and Sourton Cross Junction;
(ii) the eastbound entry slip roads at Liftondown Junction;
(iii) the eastbound and westbound entry slip roads at Stowford Cross Junction;
(iv) the westbound entry slip road at Sourton Cross Junction;
(c) authorise the closure (24 hr) of the westbound entry slip road at Sourton Cross Junction
(d) prohibit vehicles over 3.5 meters wide and cyclists from the A30 eastbound and westbound between Stowford Cross Junction and Sourton Cross Junction;
(e) authorise the 24 hour closure of the laybys adjacent to the A30 located
(i) the A30 westbound 580 metres west of Tors Road Overbridge;
(ii) the A30 westbound 600 metres east of Meldon Junction;
(iii) the A30 eastbound 3500 metres west of Sourton Cross Junction;
(iv) the A30 eastbound 700 metres west of Stowford Cross Junction.
During the closures, traffic will be diverted via junctions of the A30 and local roads.
The closures (which will not apply to emergency service, traffic officer or works vehicles) speed limit, and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the works.
The Order will come into force on 2 December 2022 and have a maximum duration of 18 months.
