What is happening?

THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
(Various Roads in Thorpe and Chertsey) (30 mph and 40 mph Speed Limits) Order 2023

On 28 November 2023 Surrey County Council made the above named Order, under Section 84 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) and all other enabling powers, which will come into force on 4 December 2023. The effect of which will be to impose (1) a 30 mph speed limit on that length of Thorpe Road (B388) Chertsey as extends from the roundabout junction with Staines Road northwards for a distance of 102m; and (2) a 40 mph speed limit on the lengths of roads in the Schedule to this Notice. The speed limits imposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011. A drafting amendment will be made to The Borough of Runnymede (Ten Acre Lane Part of Village Road and Part of Thorpe Lea Road Thorpe) (30 mph and 40 mph Speed Limits) Order 2001 to allow the 40 mph restriction in Thorpe Bypass specified in the Schedule to this Notice to continue northwards to the junction with Ten Acre Lane (as is signed on site).

Schedule
(1) B388 Thorpe Road (Chertsey) from a point 102 metres north of the roundabout junction with Staines Road to its junction with Mill House Lane; (2) Mill House Lane (Thorpe) from its junction with Thorpe Road to a point 91 metres southeast of the roundabout junction with Green Road; (3) B388 Thorpe By-Pass (Egham) from the roundabout junction with Green Road to a point 130 metres south-west of its junction with Ten Acre Lane; (4) D3199 Mill Lane (Thorpe) from a point 150 metres south-east of its junction with Green Road to its junction with Thorpe Road.
