LEEDS CITY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 16A

(Switch on of The Christmas Lights 2023) (Temporary Road Closures & Traffic Restrictions) ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that because of the likelihood of danger arising to the public (holding of the Christmas Lights switch on events), Leeds City Council has today made an Order prohibiting and restricting the use of certain roads by vehicles to facilitate the safe operation of the Switch On Events for the Christmas Lights in the City Centre and various outlying Towns & Villages along with associated side events. ABERFORD: Friday 1 December 2023, Roads to be closed 16:00hrs to 22:00hrs: Main Street between Beckside and Manor Court.

ARMLEY: Friday 1 December 2023, Roads to be closed 15:00hrs to 20:00hrs: 1. Town Street between its junctions with Hall Road and Wesley Road; 2. Theaker Lane between Town Street and Gelder Road; and 3. The Gang.

Suspension of Disabled Parking Bays 11.00 hrs to 19.00 hrs: Bays on the south side of Town Street.

FARSLEY: Wednesday 29 November 2023 (Switch On

19:00hrs), Roads to be closed 17:00 hrs to 20:00 hrs: 1. Old Road, Town Street, Calverley Lane between Frances Street and Priesthorpe Road; 2. Andrew Square (including access road to Marsden Court Flats from 16:00 hours); 3. The Green;

4.  Bagley Lane between Calverley Lane and Kirklees Drive;

5.  Charles Street.

Suspension of Parking Bays 06:00 hrs to 20:00 hrs: 1. Newlands New St to Parkside Rd; 2. New Park View West side, frontage of Hainsworth playing field; 3. Frances Street The whole; 4. South Drive Old Road to Merton Avenue; 5. Old Road South Drive to Town Street; 6. Town Street Old Road to Bagley Lane; 7. Water Lane Town Street for 100m on both sides; 8. Junction of Wesley Street, Springbank Road & Springbank Close for 20m in each direction; 9. Bagley Lane Town Street to The Green; 10. Calverley Lane Town Street to Priestthorpe Road; 11. The Green The whole; 12. Springbank Road Springbank Drive to Springbank Rise, east side. HORSFORTH: Saturday 2 December 2023 (Switch On 17:00hrs), Road to be closed – 12:00 hrs to 20:00 hrs on Saturday 2 December 2023: 1. Town Street between Kerry Hill and Back Lane.

Parking to be prohibited – 07:00 hrs to 20:00 hrs on Saturday 2 December 2023: 1. Town Street between Kerry Hill and Back Lane (both sides of Town Street).

MEANWOOD: Friday 15 December 2023 (carols event), Roads to be closed 15:00 hrs to 20:00 hrs: 2. Green Road from its junction with Sunset Road to Meanwood Primary School.

MORLEY: Saturday 2 December 2023 (Switch On 19:00hrs), Roads to be closed 08:00 hrs to 20:00 hrs: Queen Street between Fountain Street and Albion Street.

PUDSEY: Sunday 3 December 2023, Roads to be closed 10:00 hrs to 22:00 hrs: 1. Lowtown from its junction with Robin Lane to the junction with The Lanes; 2. Manor House Street the whole; 3. Waver Green from its junction with Robin Lane to its junction with Church Lane.

Road to be subject to no waiting or parking when coning is in place 11:00 hrs to 21:00 hrs: The Lanes along its eastern edge from north of its junction with Clifton Road to its junction with Lowtown. RAWDON: Tuesday 5 December 2023, Roads to be closed 17:00 hrs to 21:30 hrs: Harrogate Road between the A65 New Road Side and its junction with Park View Terrace.

No Waiting at Any Time 06.00 hrs to 21.30 hrs: Quakers Lane The whole (when NWAAT cones are present).

WETHERBY: Thurs 30 November, Sun 10 December & Thurs 14 December 2023

Thursday 30 November 2023 (Lights Event starts 17:00 hrs), Roads to be closed 16:00 hrs to 21:30 hrs: 1. Market Place to the sides and rear of the Town Hall; 2. The Shambles between Market Place and Cross Street.

Sunday 10 December 2023 (Dickensian Christmas Market 07:00 to 16.00 hrs), Roads to be closed 06:00 hrs to 18:00 hrs: 1. Market Place to the sides and rear of the Town Hall;

2.  The Shambles between Market Place and Cross Street;

3.  Cross Street the whole.

The above streets will be subject to No Waiting At Any Time from 18.00hrs on Saturday11 December until the conclusion of the event.

Thursday 14 December 2023 (Carols Event starts 19:30 hrs), Roads to be closed 18:00 hrs to 22:00 hrs: 1. Market Place to the sides and rear of the Town Hall; 2. The Shambles between Market Place and Cross Street. The Order is intended to operate during the said hours on the said days.
