What is happening?

THE ROYAL BOROUGH OF WINDSOR & MAIDENHEAD
(PRESCRIBED ROUTES) (VARIOUS ROADS)             (NO. 1) TRAFFIC ORDER 2023
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, made the above Order on 21 November 2023, the effect of which will be to consolidate, formalise or update certain moving traffic prohibitions and restrictions currently existing on-street in the Royal Borough with the intention of providing a robust basis for camera enforcement of these 
restrictions by way of Part 6 of the Traffic Management Act 2004. The prohibitions and restrictions to be included in the Order will be:-
ETON BRIDGE, WINDSOR – a prohibition of motor vehicles, operating at all times, extending from a point 8.5 metres south-east of the south-eastern kerb-line of Brocas Street, Eton to its junction with Thames Street, Windsor.
HIGH STREET, MAIDENHEAD and KING STREET, MAIDENHEAD – a pedestrian zone, comprising a prohibition of all vehicles, operating at all times, with exceptions made for (1) permit holders, between the hours of 10 am and 5 pm; and (2) loading/unloading of vehicles, between the hours of Midnight and 10 am and between the hours of 5 pm and Midnight, in: High Street, Maidenhead extending from its junction with Queen Street, Maidenhead to its junction with King Street, Maidenhead; and King Street, Maidenhead, extending from a point 6.0 metres north-west of the north-western kerb-line of Nicholson’s Lane, Maidenhead to its north-western extremity.
OXFORD ROAD EAST, WINDSOR – a pedestrian zone, comprising a prohibition of all vehicles, operating at all times, with exceptions made for (1) buses, at all times; (2) permit holders, between the hours of 6 am and 11 am and between the hours of 4 pm and 8 pm; and (3) loading/unloading of vehicles, between the hours of 6 am and 11 am and between the hours of 4 pm and 8 pm; extending from its junction with Charles Street, Windsor to its junction with Peascod Street, Windsor.
HIGH STREET, MAIDENHEAD – one-way westbound traffic working from its junction with Queen Street, Maidenhead to the western wall of No. 105 High Street, Maidenhead, with a corresponding ‘no entry’ restriction facing eastbound traffic from the remainder of High Street, Maidenhead or King Street, Maidenhead, sited at the western wall of No. 105 High Street, Maidenhead.
OXFORD ROAD EAST, WINDSOR – one-way south-eastbound traffic working from its junction with Charles Street, Windsor to its junction with Peascod Street, Windsor.
WILLIAM STREET, WINDSOR – one-way south-eastbound traffic working from its junction with Peascod Street, Windsor to a point 6.0 metres north-west of the south-eastern wall of Sir Henry Darvill House, No. 10 William Street, Windsor, with a corresponding ‘no entry’ restriction facing north-westbound traffic from the remainder of William Street, Windsor.
COLLEGE ROAD, MAIDENHEAD – a prohibition of turning right, applicable to southbound vehicles, at its junction with A4 Bath Road, Maidenhead.
HATCHET LANE, WINKFIELD, WINDSOR – a prohibition of turning right, applicable to north-eastbound vehicles, at its junction with Mounts Hill, Winkfield, Windsor.
MOUNTS HILL, WINKFIELD, WINDSOR – a prohibition of turning right, applicable to south-eastbound vehicles, at its junction with Hatchet Lane, Winkfield, Windsor.
GRENFELL ROAD, MAIDENHEAD – a compulsory left turn, applicable to north-westbound vehicles, at its junction with A4 Bath Road, Maidenhead.
FERRY LANE, COOKHAM – a prohibition of goods vehicles having a maximum gross weight in excess of 7.5 tonnes, extending from its junction with Odney Lane, Cookham to its junction with Cookham Bridge, Cookham.
COOKHAM BRIDGE, COOKHAM – a prohibition of goods vehicles having a maximum gross weight in excess of 7.5 tonnes, extending from its junction with Ferry Lane, Cookham to the boundary of the Royal Borough of Windsor 
and Maidenhead.
CHOBHAM ROAD, SUNNINGDALE, ASCOT – a prohibition of goods vehicles having a maximum gross weight in excess of 7.5 tonnes, extending from its junction with Onslow Road, Sunningdale, Ascot to a point 
16.5 metres north-west of the north-western kerb-line of Richmond Wood, Sunningdale, Ascot.

The Order shall come into force on 2nd January 2024.

Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained therein, on the ground that it is not within powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the ground that a requirement of that Act or of any relevant Regulation made under it has not been complied with, may, within six weeks from the 24 November 2023 make application for the purpose to the High Court.
