Orchard Street - Temporary Traffic Regulation
What is happening?
LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(FRIARGATE AND ORCHARD STREET, PRESTON, PRESTON CITY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2023
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an
Order under Section 14(1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as
amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads
set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over Friargate from
its junction with the A59 Ring Way to its junction with Market Place and
Orchard Street in its entirety in Preston.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out
of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative during the evenings from 1730 hours
until 2130 hours on 1 st December 2023 until 24 th December 2023.
Access will be maintained for pedestrians.
4. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via: -
Friargate - Market Street – Earl Street – Lancaster Road – Church
Street - A59 Ring Way
Orchard Street - Earl Street – Lancaster Road – Church Street -
A59 Ring Way
The temporary prohibition is necessary in the interest of public safety and to
relieve Preston City of congestion from traffic during the busy Christmas period.
