M3 MOTORWAY – JUNCTIONS 3 - 4a (BAGSHOT TO FLEET)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the M3 Motorway in the Counties of Surrey and Hampshire, under Sections 14(1)(a) and (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to mitigate the likelihood of danger to the public due to possible strikes on a low bridge, prior to and including the removal of the bridge.
The effect of the Order is to authorise:-
1) the weekend closure of;
a) the London-bound carriageway of the M3 between Junction 4a (A327) and Junction 3 (A322);
b) the coastbound carriageway of the M3 between Junction 3 (A322) and Junction 4 (A331); and
c) all of the roads leading to and from the carriageways described in a) and b) above; and

2) a 24-hour height restriction of 4.9 Metres on the outside two lanes of both carriageways of the M3 beneath the pedestrian overbridge located 642 metres west of the centreline of the western overbridge at Junction 3 (A322).

These measures are in the interests of road safety.
It is expected that the work to remove the bridge will take place between 21:00 hours Friday 8th December 2023 and 06:00 hours Monday 11th December. A contingency to postpone to the following weekend may be needed in the event of unforeseen circumstances. Please confirm by checking National Highways website. The height restriction will remain in place until the bridge is removed. The Order will come into force on 29th November 2023 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.

Traffic affected by the London-bound closure will be diverted using the A327, A30, and A322. Traffic affected by the coast-bound closure will be diverted using the A322, A30, and A331.

The temporary closures, diversion routes, and height restriction will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works and danger periods.
