What is happening?

THE BOROUGH OF LUTON (ALMA LINK)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2023

NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, on 20th November 2023 made the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The Order will come into operation on 27th November 2023 for a period of 6 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Anticipated dates and times of closure 27th November 2023 to 29th November 2023, 8am to 6pm. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.

The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic Alma Link the whole length. Diversion route via Alma Street, New Bedford Road, Inkerman Street. Alternative route via Inkerman Street, Stuart Street, Dunstable Place, Upper George Street.

The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period within the date described as above. The purpose of the Order is to allow installation of fibre network works to be carried out in the footway and carriageway. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being
