THE BARNET (WEIGHT RESTRICTION (NO.1) TRAFFIC ORDER 2023
THE BARNET (FREE PARKING PLACES, LOADING PLACES, WAITING, LOADING AND STOPPING RESTRICTIONS) (AMENDMENT NO.233) ORDER 2023
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Barnet have made on the 16th November 2023 the above-mentioned Order under Sections 6 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.
The general effect of the above-mentioned weight restriction Order will be to make permanent the provision of The Barnet (Weight Restriction (No.1) (Experimental) Traffic Order 2022. The general effect of the above mentioned Free Order will be to make permanent the provisions of The Barnet (Free Parking Places, Loading Places, Waiting, Loading and Stopping Restrictions) (Amendment No.183) (Experimental) Order 2022.
The above mentioned Orders, which both came into operation on Friday 19th May 2022, introduced on an experimental basis, the following measures below: As part of a variety of measures designed to address concerns about large vehicles travelling on local roads, speeding traffic, and improve general road safety, the general effect of the Orders would be, on an experimental basis, to:
1. introduce a weight restriction limit of 5 tonnes on the length of roads specified below to operate at all times:
Quantock Gardens NW2 - entire length; Cotswold Gardens NW2 - entire length; Grampian Gardens NW2 - entire length; Cleveland Gardens NW2 - entire length; Pennine Drive NW2 - entire length; Cumbrian Gardens NW2 - entire length; Cheviot Gardens NW2 - entire length; Chiltern Gardens NW2 - entire length; Cotswold Gate NW2 - entire length; Mendip Drive NW2 -entire length; Purbeck Drive NW2 - entire length; Pennine Lane NW2 - entire length; Thorverton Road NW2 - entire length; Gillingham Road NW2 - entire length; Somerton Road NW2 - entire length; Dersingham Road NW2 - entire length; Caddington Road NW2 - entire length; Greenfield Gardens NW2 - entire length; Sanderstead Avenue NW2 - entire length; Purley Avenue NW2 - entire length.
2. introduce a weight restriction limit of 5 tonnes on the length of roads specified below to operate between 7am to 11am on Mondays to Fridays and also between 00:01 on Saturdays to 23:59 on Sundays
The Vale NW11 - between its junctions with A41Hendon Way and Claremont Road; Woodvale Way NW11 - entire length; Pentland Close NW11 - entire length.
3. introduce a new length of 'at any time' waiting restriction approximately 79 metres in length on the southwest side of Claremont Road NW2 between the junction of The Vale and the junction of Brent Terrace.
The Order will also revoke The Barnet (Weight Restriction) (No.2) Traffic Order 2017 which was suspended while The Barnet (Weight Restriction) (No.1) (Experimental) Traffic Order 2022 was in operation.
A copy of the Orders, which will come into operation on Friday 17th November 2023 and the Council's Statement of Reasons for making the Orders can be inspected between 9am and 5pm on Mondays to Fridays (Bank Holidays and Public Holidays Excepted) for a period of 6 weeks from the date on which this notice is published by the Design Team, 7th Floor, 2 Bristol Avenue, Colindale, London NW9 4EW.
Any person wishing to question the validity of the Orders or any of their provisions on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any regulation made there-under have not been complied with in relation to the Orders may within six weeks of the date on which the Order were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
