TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2023
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 16A

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council (“the Council”), in exercise of its powers as the local traffic authority under section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) and all other enabling powers, has made on the 6th November 2023 the Northumberland County Council (Bedlington Christmas Lights Switch On and Ice Rink 2023) Temporary Traffic Regulation Order 2023 (“the TTRO”).
The Council has made the TTRO for the purposes of facilitating the holding of Bedlington Christmas Lights Switch On and Ice Rink 2023 (“the Event”) by restricting traffic on A193 Front Street West from it’s junction with Church Lane to it’s junction with Windsor Gardens for a distance of 200 metres in Bedlington (“the Road”).
The TTRO shall come into force at 14:00 hours on 25th November 2023 and will remain in force until 22:00 hours on 25th November 2023, subject to the provisions of section 16B of the Act.
An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being the B1331 Vulcan Place, the U6722 Schalksmuhle Road and the A1068 Choppington Road in Bedlington.
All restrictions on the Road will be sign-posted and staffed and will remain in force only for as long as is necessary.
Nothing in the TTRO shall apply to:
a. Any activities taking place on the Road related to the organisation and holding of the Event;
b. Anything done with the permission of, or at the direction of, a police officer or a Duly Authorised Officer of the Council.
c. Any vehicle being used by, or for the purposes of, the emergency services;
d. Any vehicle being used by or for the purposes of a statutory undertaker (e.g. the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which requires vehicles to be brought onto the Road); or
e. Pedestrian access to any premises adjoining the Road.
