What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
WHITEWALLS DRIVE, COLNE, PENDLE BOROUGH
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over the following lengths of A6068 Whitewalls Drive, Colne.
i. Northbound Carriageway only from its junction with M65 Junction 13 from A6068 to its junction with Regent Street.
ii. Southbound Carriageway only from its junction with M65 Junction 13 from A6068 for a distance of 275 metres in a southerly direction.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibitions in article 1 will be operative overnight only from 2000 hours to 0600 hours on the dates specified below.
i. Northbound Carriageway only from its junction with M65 Junction 13 from A6068 to its junction with Regent Street from Monday 4th December 2023 until Wednesday 13th December 2023.
ii. Southbound Carriageway only from its junction with M65 Junction 13 from A6068 for a distance of 275 metres in a southerly direction from Wednesday 13th December 2023 until Friday 22nd December 2023.
4. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
i. Northbound diversion – Burnley Road – Primet Bridge – Primet Hill – Albert Road – Church Street – Market Street – Skipton Road – Windsor Street – North Valley Road – Vivary Way.
ii. Southbound diversion – Vivary Way – North Valley Road – Windsor Street – Skipton Road – Newtown Street - Craddock Road – Walton Street – Church Street - Albert Road – Primet Hill – Primet Bridge – Burnley Road
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow resurfacing works to both carriageways to be carried out.
