What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(B5192 POULTON STREET, PRESTON STREET, CHURCH STREET AND FRECKLETON STREET, KIRKHAM, FYLDE BOROUGH) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this Order.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over the following lengths of highway in the borough of Fylde:
i. B5192 Poulton Street, Kirkham from its junction with Church Street to its junction with Clegg Street.
ii. Preston Street, Kirkham from its junction with Church Street for a distance of 45 metres in an easterly direction.
iii. Kirkgate, Kirkham from its junction with B5192 Poulton Street for a distance of 12 metres in a southerly direction.
iv. Church Street, Kirkham from its junction with B5192 Poulton Street for a distance of 61 metres in a northerly direction.
v. Freckleton Street, Kirkham from its junction with B5192 Poulton Street for a distance of 38 metres in a southerly direction.
2. Nothing in this Order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0700 hours on Monday 27th November 2023 until 1700 hours on Sunday 10th December 2023 or until completion of the works within this period. Access will be maintained whenever and wherever possible.
4. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:
B5192 Poulton Street
B5259 Moor Street – B5259 Ribby Road – A583 Kirkham Bypass – B5192 Blackpool Road
B5192 Preston Street
B5192 Blackpool Road - A583 Kirkham Bypass - B5259 Ribby Road - B5259 Moor Street
Freckleton Street
Freckleton Street - A583 Kirkham Bypass - B5259 Ribby Road - B5259 Moor Street
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow major highway improvement works to be carried out on behalf of Fylde Borough Council.
