What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 16A
(HARTON VILLAGE CHRISTMAS EVENT)
TEMPORARY EVENT TRAFFIC REGULATION NOTICE

On 22/11/23 South Tyneside Council intends to make an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Order which comes into force at 00:01 on Sat 02/12/23 is that between 13:00 & 21:00 hrs on Sat 12/12/23 and 11:00 & 16:00 hrs on Sun 03/12/23 no person shall cause a vehicle (other than a vehicle being used for emergency purposes or officiating in the event) to enter: - Moor Lane East, South Shields from its junction with Sunderland Road to its junction with St. Mary’s Avenue. To wait in: -Parking Bays situated on the east side of Sunderland Road, South Shields from the junction of Moor Lane East southwards for 50m.To exceed the temporary 20 mph speed limit in: - Sunderland Road, South Shields from its junction with Marsden Road to its junction with Glenhurst Grove. The prohibitions shall only apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. The restrictions are necessary to facilitate the holding of a social event known as the Harton Village Christmas Fayre (“the Event) to enable members of public to watch the Event, and to reduce the disruption to traffic likely to be caused by the Event.
