Westmorland And Furness, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders
What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL
(U5670, HAMPSFELL ROAD, GRANGE-OVER-SANDS AND CAPTAIN FRENCH LANE, KENDAL) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2023
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cadent Gas to carry out utility works ("the Works"), Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:
1. U5670, Hampsfell Road, Grange-Over-Sands, from a point approx. 420m north east of its junction with Charney Well Lane, extending in a north westerly direction for a distance of approx. 90m.
Alternative Route for north east bound vehicles: via the unrestricted sections of Hampsfell Road, Main Street, Grange Fell Road and Spring Bank Road.
Alternative Route for south east bound vehicles: via the unrestricted sections of Hampsfell Road, Spring Bank Road, Grange Fell Road and Pig Lane.
Duration: From 13th November 2023 for approx. 2 weeks (Ref: TTROW/8504)
2. Captain French Lane, Kendal, from a point approx. 60m south east of its junction with East View, extending in a south easterly direction for a distance of approx. 40m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Captain French Road, Highgate (A6), Allhallows Lane, Beast Banks, Brigsteer Road and East View.
Duration: From 19th November 2023 for approx. 1 day (Ref: TTROW/8515)
N.B: With reference to item (2) above, to facilitate the alternative route and maintain access to Highgate (A6) the one-way restriction on Captain French Lane will be temporarily suspended from a point approx. 95m south east of its junction with East View, extending in a predominantly easterly direction to its junction with Highgate (A6).
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
(i) Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and
(ii) Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and
(iii) Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works.

website. The references to quote are stated above.The Order will come into operation on 13th November 2023 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
