NEW ROAD, CLIFFE (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2023
Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an Order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable a new electrical connection to be made -
New Road, Cliffe - to be closed to all vehicular traffic across the frontage of 14 New Road. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. No alternative route is available. Emergency access will be maintained.
This Order will come into force on Monday, 20 November 2023 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Monday, 20 November 2023 and are programmed for completion within five. The Order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

PROVISION OF PEDESTRIAN AND CYCLE ZONES OUTSIDE SCHOOLS NOTICE OF MAKING THE MEDWAY COUNCIL (SCHOOL STREETS) (PEDESTRIAN AND CYCLE ZONES) ORDER 2023
- NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Medway Council on 8 November 2023 made the above-mentioned Order under sections 1, 2 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
- The general effect of the Order will be to introduce a new ‘pedestrian and cycle zone’ in the vicinity of each of the schools listed in column (1) of the Schedule to this Notice, comprising the streets or parts of streets listed in column (2) of that Schedule. The pedestrian and cycle zones will operate at the times listed in column (3) of that Schedule.
- All motor vehicles except permit holders will be prohibited from entering the pedestrian and cycle zones during their hours of operation. Virtual permits allowing vehicles to enter a pedestrian and cycle zone will be available to residents and those caring for residents, of premises located within or only accessible from the pedestrian and cycle zones, by application to the Council. Local buses will be exempt from the restriction in Richmond Road. Further exemptions will apply to vehicles of those dropping off or picking up students with special educational needs or who are disabled (the details of such vehicles being registered with the school) and to emergency service vehicles, school buses and certain other service vehicles and utility vehicles (in an emergency only) and also to school staff requiring access to parking facilities within school grounds. Any vehicle that is already within the pedestrian and cycle zone prior to its commencement of operation will be permitted to leave.
- Copies of the made Order, which will come into force on 13 November 2023, and of plans showing its effect, may be inspected at the front reception, Medway Council, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, Kent, ME4 4TR during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive (except for bank and public holidays) until the end of a period of six weeks from the date on which the Order was made. Alternatively, electronic copies of the documents can be requested by sending an email to parkingdesign@medway.gov.uk
- Persons wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the 1984 Act, or that any requirement of the Act or any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
SCHEDULE
(1) pedestrian and cycle zones operating between 8.00am and 9.30am and between 3.00pm and 4.00pm on Monday to Friday inclusive: (A) in relation to Phoenix Primary School, comprising of the following roads: GLENCOE ROAD, CHATHAM (between Redvers Road and Magpie Hall Road; WHITE ROAD, CHATHAM (between Symons Avenue and Glencoe Road; and STURLA ROAD, CHATHAM (between Glencoe Road and Albert Road; and (B) in relation to St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School, comprising of the following road: GREENFIELD ROAD, GILLINGHAM.
(2) pedestrian and cycle zone operating between 8.25am and 9.00am and between 3.00pm and 3.30pm on Monday to Friday inclusive: in relation to St. Peter’s Infant School, comprising of the following road: HOLCOMBE ROAD, ROCHESTER.
(3) pedestrian and cycle zone operating between 8.15am and 9.00am and between 2.45pm and 3.45pm on Monday to Friday inclusive: in relation to Burnt Oak Primary School, comprising of the following roads: CORNWALL ROAD, GILLINGHAM; DEVONSHIRE ROAD, GILLINGHAM; and RICHMOND ROAD, GILLINGHAM (between 1 metre north-east of the common boundary of Nos. 47 and 49 Richmond Road and the common boundary of Nos. 89 and 91 Richmond Road).
(4) pedestrian and cycle zone operating between 8.00am and 9.00am and between 3.00pm and 4.00pm on Monday to Thursday inclusive and between 8.00am and 9.00am, between 12.45pm and 1.30pm and between 3.00pm and 4.00pm on Fridays: in relation to Miers Court Primary School, comprising of the following roads: SILVERSPOT CLOSE, RAINHAM; and THE CROFTERS, RAINHAM.
(5) pedestrian and cycle zone operating between 8.15am and 9.00am and between 2.45pm and 3.30pm on Monday to Friday inclusive: in relation to St. Thomas More Catholic Primary School, comprising of the following road: BLEAKWOOD ROAD, CHATHAM.
(6) pedestrian and cycle zone operating between 8.00am and 9.00am and between 3.00pm and 4.00pm on Monday to Friday inclusive: (A) in relation to Greenvale Primary School, comprising of the following road: SYMONS AVENUE, CHATHAM (between White Road and Haig Avenue).

STROOD (WAITING RESTRICTIONS) (AMENDMENT NO.19) ORDER 2023
NOTICE OF PROPOSAL BEECH ROAD, CEDAR ROAD, COPPERHOUSE ROAD, GLAMFORD ROAD, HAWTHORN ROAD, MAPLE ROAD, PARKFIELDS, RUSHDEAN ROAD, THE SPIRES, WELLS ROAD
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Medway Council proposes to make the abovementioned Order under sections 1, 2 and 4 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The general effect of the Amendment Order will be to introduce lengths of No Waiting (single and/or double yellow lines) in roads within Strood areas as detailed:
1) Beech Road – (a) North side, 11.5m westwards and 9m eastwards from Maple Road junction; (b) South side, 12m westwards and 9m eastwards from Maple Road junction;
2) Cedar Road – North side, 6m westwards and 10.3m eastwards from Maple Road junction;
3) Copperhouse Road – (a) North side, 12m eastwards from Parkfields junction; (b) South side, 10m eastwards from Parkfields junction;
4) Glamford Road – (a) West side, 12.5m northwards from Merrals Wood Road junction; (b) East side, 10.5m northwards from Merrals Wood Road junction;
5) Hawthorn Road – (a) North side, 7m westwards and 7.8m eastwards from Maple Road junction; (b) South side, 7.8m westwards and 8.4m eastwards from Maple Road junction;

Any objections or other representations about the proposed Order should be sent in writing by email to TROconsult@medway.gov.uk or by post to “Parking Design Team” at the address specified in the paragraph below by Monday, 4 December 2023, stating name, address and grounds for objection or support. Copies of the Order and of other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order can be inspected at the front reception, Medway Council, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, Kent, ME4 4TR during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive except for Bank and public holidays.
