What is happening?

TEMPORARY CLOSURE A417 (A40 BARNWOOD LINK ROAD SOUTH) LAYBY ONLY (ELMBRIDGE WARD) GLOUCESTER CITY
Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, has made an order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close part of the A417 (A40 Barnwood Link Road South) Layby only from 400 metres South of Elmbridge Court Roundabout – entire layby for a distance of approximately 100 metres (“the Road”).
The reason for the closure is for urgent gully cleaning and cover resetting works and for environmental investigation works.
The road was originally closed for 5 days by Notice which commenced on the 6th November 2023. The works have not been completed and it has been necessary to make an Order. This Order can close the road for up to 18 months from the date of the notice, however it is anticipated that the road will be closed from 11th November 2023 until 4th December 2023 only or until the works have been completed.
