Southend Road, Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Due To Resurfacing Works

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE A406 AND A1400 GLA ROADS (SOUTHEND ROAD, LONDON BOROUGH OF REDBRIDGE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2023

1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

2. The purpose of the Order is to enable carriageway resurfacing works to take place at A406 Southend Road and A1400 Southend Road.

3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from entering, exiting or proceeding on:

(1) the A406 off-slip road Southend Road between its junctions with the eastbound carriageway of A406 North Circular Road/ Southend Road and A406 Charlie Browns Roundabout;

(2) Maybank Road between its junctions with the A406 North Circular Road/Southend Road off slip Road and the southern boundary of No.124 Maybank Road;

(3) the eastbound carriageway of A1400 Southend Road between its junctions with Charlie Browns Roundabout and Lechmere Approach.

The Order will be effective at certain times between 13th November 2023 and 13th May 2024 each night 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibition will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;

(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.

5. At such times as the prohibition is in force an alternative route will be indicated by traffic signs via (for traffic on North Circular Road travelling eastbound wishing to access Charlie Browns Roundabout) Redbridge Roundabout, A12 Eastern Avenue, A1400 Gants Hill, Woodford Avenue and Charlie Browns Roundabout to normal route of travel: (for traffic on Charlie Browns Roundabout wishing to access A1400 Southend Road) North Circular Road/ Southend Road on-slip road, North Circular Road/Southend Road westbound carriageway, Waterworks Corner Roundabout.
