Coniston, Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic Due To Tree Felling Works
What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (C5018 CONISTON) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2023
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Brantwood Trust to carry out tree felling works ("the Works"), Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of the C5018 Coniston, from a point approx. 820m south west of its junction with the B5285 extending in a south westerly direction for approx 2.7km.
A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of C5018 (Lowick Bridge), A5084 (Torver), A593 (Coniston), B5285 and C5018.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and
2. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and
3. Apply to personnel and vehicles being used in connection with the Works.

The Order will come into operation on 6th November 2023 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 2 days, during the hours of 8:30 and 16:30 and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
