Freemans Place, Temporary Footway Closure & Restrictions Due To Refurbishment Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (Freemans Place, Durham City) (Temporary Footway Closure and Loading Bay Suspension) Order 2023
The Council on 27/10/23 made the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, Section 14(1) to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following length of footway to enable building refurbishment works to be undertaken:
Temporary Footway Closure
- on a 40 metre length of western associated footway of Freemans Place that extends south westerly for the north eastern corner of the Waterside building, Durham City.Temporary Loading Bay Suspension
It will also be necessary to suspend the loading bay adjacent to this footway as detailed in the County Council of Durham (Durham City North West) (Parking and Waiting Restrictions) Order 2012 (Amendment Order No.1) 2021 and close this to vehicular traffic during the works.An alternative route will be available to pedestrian traffic via the footway on the eastern side of Freemans Place.
The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on 6/11/23 and are anticipated to be completed in 9 months. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly
