What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE A21 GLA ROAD (FARNBOROUGH WAY, LONDON BOROUGH OF BROMLEY) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND STOPPING) ORDER 2023
1. Transport for London in consultation with the London Borough of Bromley hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.
2. The purpose of the Order is to enable highway and footway improvement works to take place on the A21 Farnborough Way.
3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:
(1) entering, exiting, proceeding or stopping on Farnborough Way between its junctions with Tubbenden Lane and the roundabout at the junctions of Sevenoaks Road/ High Street and Cudham Lane North;
(2) entering or proceeding in a westerly direction on the A21 Sevenoaks Road between its junctions with Hewitts Roundabout and the roundabout at the junctions of Sevenoaks Road/ High Street and Cudham Lane North, local access will be maintained;
(3) entering or proceeding in a easterly direction on the A21 Farnborough Common/ The Green/ Farnborough Way between its junctions with Crofton Road and Tubbenden Lane, local access will be maintained;
(4) entering or proceeding on Farnborough Hill between its junctions with Shire Lane and Farnborough Way;
(5) entering or proceeding on Farnborough Hill between its junctions with Sevenoaks Road and Farnborough Way. Local access will be maintained between Sevenoaks Road and Orpington Bus Garage.
Works will be phased such that some restrictions will apply only at certain times.
The Order will be effective at certain times between 19th November 2023 and 19th May 2024, every night 9:00 PM until 5:00 AM or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibitions will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:
(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;
(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.
5. At such times as the prohibitions are in force alternative routes will be indicated by traffic signs. Westbound via Hewitts Roundabout, Court Road, Orpington By-Pass, High Street, Chislehurst Road, Goodmead Road, Perry Hall Road, Chislehurst Road, Crofton Lane, Towncourt Lane, Queensway, Franks Wood Avenue, Southborough Lane, crown Lane and Crown Lane Spur to normal route of travel. Eastbound via A21 Farnborough Common northbound, Hastings Road, Bromley Common, Crown Lane Spur, Crown Lane, Southborough Lane, Franks Wood Avenue, Queensway, Townscourt Lane, Crofton Lane, Chislehurst Road, Perry Hall Road, High Street, Court Road and Orpington By-Pass to normal route of travel.
