Footpath Aba 89 & Public Bridleway Aba 87 - Temporary Closure For Clearance & Archaeological Digs
What is happening?

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PUBLIC FOOTPATH ABA 89 and PART OF PUBLIC BRIDLEWAY ABA 87 (BADGEWORTH PARISH) and PUBLIC FOOTPATH ACY 24 (COWLEY PARISH)
TEWKESBURY BOROUGH ORDER 2023
NOTICE is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport has extended the Order to close temporarily under Sections 14, 15 and 16 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 (as amended) part of the Public Footpaths and Public Bridleway as defined in the Schedule below:
Schedule
Public Bridleway ABA 87 from its junction with Public Footpath ABA 89 and its junction with A417 Road in a generally southerly direction for approximately 335 metres to its junction with Public Footpath ABA 88.
Public Footpath ABA 89 from its junction with Public Bridleway ABA 87 in a generally south easterly direction for approximately 110 metres to its junction with Public Footpath ACY 24
Public Footpath ACY 24 from its junction with Public Footpath ABA 89 in a generally easterly direction for approximately 235 metres to its junction with A417 Road
The said Public Footpaths and Public Bridleway fall within the Parishes of Badgeworth and Cowley in the Tewkesbury Borough, within the County of Gloucestershire.
The closure is necessary to safeguard the public while site clearance and archaeological digs are undertaken as part of the preparation for the A417 Missing Link Road works.
The Order came into force on the 5th June 2023 and was due to expire on 5th December 2023. However, works have still not been completed and an extension has been granted by the Secretary of State for Transport and will last until 5th March 2027 or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.
