What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

 The Borough Council of Sandwell (Bromford Lane and Bromford Road, Oldbury) (Temporary One-Way Road Closures) Order 2023 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Bromford Lane, Oldbury in a south-westerly direction from the roundabout at Kelvin Way to the junction of Cornwallis Road and Bromford Road, Oldbury in a south-westerly direction from the junction of Cornwallis Road to the junction of Broadwell Road (access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits). 

A traffic diversion route will be signed via Brandon Way, Albion Road and West Bromwich Street. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 10/11/2023 effective from 08/11/2023 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access for the installation of a new electrical service cable by Excalon Ltd on behalf of National Grid Electricity. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Birmingham Street, Low Town, McKean Road & Simpson Street, Oldbury) (Temporary Road Closures) (Portway Road & Judge Close, Oldbury) (Temporary One-Way Road Closures) Order 2023 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along the following roads:- Birmingham Street, which will be closed between the junctions of Oldbury Ringway and Low Town (eastern side) (30/11/2023 - 04/12/2023). A traffic diversion route will be signed via Oldbury Ringway, Halesowen Street and vice-versa. Low Town, which will be closed at the junctions of Judge Close (22/11/2023 - 28/11/2023 and Birmingham Street (24/11/2023 - 06/12/2023). No diversion routes required. McKean Road, which will be closed from the junction of Century Road to outside property No.100 (05/12/2023 - 22/12/2023). 

A traffic diversion route will be signed via Birmingham Street, Birmingham Road, Broadwell Road, Century Road and vice-versa. Simpson Street, which will be closed from the junction of Birmingham Street to the access road to the Oldbury Health Centre (05/12/2023 - 15/12/2023). A traffic diversion route (eastbound) will be signed via Birmingham Street, Broadwell Road, Century Road and McKean Road. A traffic diversion route (northbound) will be signed via Birmingham Street, Church Street, Bromford Road, Century Road and McKean Road. Portway Road, which will be closed one-way (eastbound) between the junctions of Littlefields Way (eastern side) to the junction of Churchbridge (09/11/2023 - 22/11/2023).

 A traffic diversion route will be signed via Wolverhampton Road (A4123), Birchley Island and Churchbridge. Judge Close, which will be closed one-way (north-west bound) from the junction of Birmingham Street to the western side of Low Town (22/11/2023 - 01/12/2023). A traffic diversion route will be signed via Oldbury Ringway, Halesowen Street and Canal Street. Access to any frontages within these closures will be maintained, but only when safety permits. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 22/12/2023 effective from 09/11/2023 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access to lay new 132KV service cable by Excalon on behalf of National Grid Electricity.
