LOCAL GOVERNMENT (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT 1976 – SECTION 65
HACKNEY CARRIAGES TABLE OF PROPOSED FARES

Notice is hereby given of the following variation of the fares or rates and other charges within the North Somerset District in connection with the hire of hackney carriages fixed by the Council: -

HACKNEY CARRIAGE TARIFF
(MAXIMUM CHARGE)
TARIFF 1 – DAYTIME RATE (6.00AM - 8PM)
First 250 yards (228.6m) or uncompleted part thereof £4.00
Each subsequent 176yds (160.93) or uncompleted part thereof £0.20

TARIFF 2 – EVENING RATE (8 PM - MIDNIGHT)
First 250 yards (228.6m) or uncompleted part thereof £4.80
Each subsequent 176yds (160.93) or uncompleted part thereof £0.20

TARIFF 3 – NIGHT-TIME RATE (MIDNIGHT - 6.00AM)
(Excluding, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day and Public Bank Holidays) First 250 yards (228.6m) or uncompleted part thereof £5.00
Each subsequent 176yds (160.93) or uncompleted part thereof £0.25

TARIFF 4 – CHRISTMAS DAY, BOXING DAY AND NEW YEAR’S DAY
First 250 yards (228.6m) or uncompleted part thereof £6.00
Each subsequent 176yds (160.93) or uncompleted part thereof £0.40

TARIFF 5 – PUBLIC BANK HOLIDAYS (EXCLUDING TARIFF 3 DAYS)
First 250 yards (228.6m) or uncompleted part thereof £4.50
Each subsequent 176yds (160.93) or uncompleted part thereof £0.30

WAITING TIME (ALL TARIFFS) For each completed 40 seconds £0.30

ADDITIONAL CHARGES
ADDITIONAL PASSENGERS £0.20
For each passenger in excess of one

LUGGAGE CHARGE (SINGLE CHARGE) £0.40
Includes bags, suitcases and prams but excludes wheelchairs and associated passenger disability equipment.

SOILING CHARGE £100.00
THE METER MUST BE ON AT ALL TIMES WHEN HIRED
Any person wishing to object to the increase in fares as set out in the Schedule above, or to make any representations in relation thereto, may do so in writing to the Licensing Manager, Town Hall, Walliscote Grove Road, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 1UJ, setting out the grounds of objection, within 14 days of the date of publication of this notice, stating the objections or representations.

If no objection is duly made within that period, or if all objections so made are withdrawn, the table of fares will come into operation after the expiration of that period or the date of withdrawal of the objection or the last of the objections if more than one, whichever date is the later.

If any objection is duly made and not withdrawn the Council will set a further date, not later two months after the date of publication of this notice, when the table of fares will come into force with or without modification as decided by the Council after consideration of the objections.

A copy of this Notice has been deposited at the Licensing Office at the Town Hall, Walliscote Grove Road, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 1UJ until 10 November 2023 and is open to public inspection without payment by appointment only between the hours of 9.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday.
