Ponteland Road - Prohibition Of Traffic For Works
What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
(A167 PONTELAND ROAD) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2023
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 26th October 2023 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to prohibit all vehicles from proceeding on A167 Ponteland Road between Cowgate junction and Junction 77 Kenton Bar Interchange of the A1(T)/A696.
2. The alternative route for vehicles will be via B6324 Stamfordham Road and Junction 76 - Westerhope Interchange of the A1(T) and/or A191 Springfield Road and A167 Ponteland Road.
3. The Order is required to allow works to be carried out on or near the highway.
4. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles engaged in the works and, wherever possible, for police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call.
5. The Order will come into operation on 30th October 2023 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, for 2 months or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
However works will be phased to one side of the carriageway at a time with phased working. It is also anticipated that the closure will only be required for a maximum of 14 shifts within the period the Order is made for and the road reopened between 7pm to midnight each shift although the road surface will be uneven until the new surface is re-laid.
