Whitehaven, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Utility Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (U4010 QUALITY CORNER AND U4010 MORESBY ROAD, WHITEHAVEN AND WARDLES LONNING, LOWCA) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Fibrus to carry out utility works ("the Works"), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

1. U4010 Quality Corner, Whitehaven from its junction with Red Lonning to its junction with Victoria Road.

Alternative Route: via Red Lonning and Victoria Road

Duration: From 14 November 2023 for approx. 2 days (Ref: TTROC/8692)

2. U4010 Moresby Road, Whitehaven from its junction with Red Lonning to its junction with Moresby Parks Road.

Alternative Route: via Red Lonning, School Brow and Moresby Road.

Duration: From 20 November 2023 for approx. 1 week (Ref: TTROC/8693)

3. Wardles Lonning Lowca from its junction with Lowca Top Road to its junction with Mill Lonning.

Alternative Route: via Lowca Top Road and Mill Lonning

Duration: From 20 November 2023 for approx. 1 week (Ref: TTROC/8699)

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

(i) Apply emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

(ii) Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

(iii) Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and

(iv) Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works.

The Order will come into operation on 14 November 2023 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
