Gateshead - Various Road Closures to Enable Carriageway Surface Retexturing Works to Be Carried Out

What is happening?

THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD
(VARIOUS ROADS - CARRIAGEWAY SURFACE RETEXTURING)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2023
Notice is hereby given that on the 25 October 2023 the Borough
Council of Gateshead made an Order under section 14(1) of the
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to
temporarily prohibit vehicles along the lengths of road listed in the
Schedule below. The Order is required to enable carriageway surface
retexturing works to be carried out. The Order will come into force on
30 October 2023. The maximum duration of the Order will be
18 months, however the works are expected to be completed by
the 29 March 2024. In advance of the works being carried out,
each section of affected road will display advisory traffic signs.
All vehicles (except for vehicles involved in the works and
emergency service vehicles on duty) will be prohibited from the
roads described in the Schedule below during the works and until
the works are completed as indicated by the display of traffic signs.
During the prohibitions there will be a signed diversion in place.

Scotswood Bridge Main Span - from the border with
Newcastle City Council in a southerly
direction for a distance of 80 metres;
Southeast Viaduct - exit slip from the
bifurcation with Scotswood Bridge South
Slip in a south easterly direction for a
distance of 125 metres;
South Viaduct - South entry slip from the
bifurcation with A695 Chainbridge Road
westbound carriageway to the bifurcation
with A695 Scotswood Bridge Southwest
entry slip road for a distance of 295m
Southwest Viaduct - Southwest entry
slip from the bifurcation with A695
Blaydon Highway eastbound carriageway
to the bifurcation with Scotswood Bridge
South Viaduct in a north easterly direction
for a distance of 120 metres.
