Ellesmere Avenue - Road Traffic Regulation to Allow Works to Be Carried Out on or Near the Highway
What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE (ELLESMERE AVENUE) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION (NO. 2) ORDER 2023
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 19th October 2023 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to prohibit all vehicles from proceeding on Ellesmere Avenue between Sutton Street and Coutts Road.
2. The alternative route for vehicles will be via Sutton Street / Palmerston Avenue, Coutts Road / Palmerston Avenue.
3. The Order is required to allow works to be carried out on or near the highway.
4. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles engaged in the works and, wherever possible, for police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call.
5. The Order will come into operation on 30th October 2023 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, for 2 months or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier. (However it is anticipated that the closure will only be required for around 2 days within the period the Order is made for and the road reopened between 3.30pm and 9.30am on each day of the closure although the road surface will be uneven until the new surface is laid).
