What is happening?
MIDDLEHAM LOW MOOR, MIDDLEHAM HIGH MOOR AND OTHER LAND LOCATED IN MIDDLEHAM AND WEST WITTTON, RICHMONDSHIRE, NORTH YORKSHIRE COMMON
Hoerty Strategic Land has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for consent under section 38 of the Commons Act 2006 to carry out restricted works on Middleham Low Moor, Middleham High Moor and other land located in Middleham and West Witton Common. The Planning Inspectorate will decide the application on behalf of the Secretary of State. The proposed works, which will take place on that part of the Common which is known as The Busks are: the construction of a section of permanent new highway which will provide access from an approved residential development site onto the A6108 Leyburn Road and a surfaced footpath 2m wide from the new access back to St Alkeldas Road. The surface of the proposed road and footpath will be surfaces with tarmacadam and the area covered by the work will be 360m2.
