Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
Broomfield Road, Herne Bay. CT6 7BA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2023
To allow maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Broomfield Road, Herne Bay, on or after 6th November 2023, for up to 3 days, between the hours of 07.00 and 23.00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Herne & Broomfield Surgery, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Mill Lane, Hunters Forstal Road, Margate Road and vice versa.
Canterbury Hill, Canterbury. CT2 9LS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF ENVIRONMENTAL WEIGHT LIMIT) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2023
To allow overhead cable works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Canterbury Hill, Canterbury, on or after 24th October 2023, for up to 1 day, between the hours of 08.00 and 17.00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 10, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The environmental weight limit on Forty Acres Road will be suspended.
The alternative route is via Canterbury Hill, Wood Hill, Hackington Road, Radfall Road, Radfall Hill, Chestfield Road, A2990 Thanet Way, A290 Clapham Hill, Pean Hill, Honey Hill, Blean Common, Blean Hill, Tile Kiln Hill, Whitstable Road, St Thomas Hill, Whitstable Road, Forty Acres Road, Beaconsfield Road, St Stephen’s Hill and vice versa.
Mortimer Street, Herne Bay. CT6 5HA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2023
To allow new gas supply works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mortimer Street, Herne Bay, on or after 23rd October 2023, for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with North Street to the junction with Chapel Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The One-Way Order on Mortimer Street will be temporarily suspended between North Street and East Street.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via:-
Diversion 1 - North Street, High Street, East Street, Mortimer Street.
Diversion 2 – East Street, Charles Street, North Street.
Ross Gardens, Canterbury. CT2 9BY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2023
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ross Gardens, Canterbury, on or after 10th November 2023, for up to 5 days, between the hours of 08.00 and 17.00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 1, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Ross Gardens, Rough Common Road and vice versa.
Shalmsford Street, Chartham. CT4 7SB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2023
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Shalmsford Street, Chartham, on or after 24th October 2023, for up to 1 day, between the hours of 08.00 and 16.00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 5, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Shalmsford Street, A28 Ashford Road, Milton Manor Road, Cockering Road, The Crescent and vice versa.
Sweechbridge Road, Herne Bay. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2023
To allow drainage works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Sweechbridge Road, Herne Bay, on or after 12th November 2023, for up to one day, between the hours of 06.00 and 18.00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the railway bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Sweechbridge Road, Heart In Hand Road, Margate Road, Margate Road Interchange, Margate Road, Blacksole Bridge, Reculver Road, Sweechbridge Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Sweechgate, Broad Oak. CT3 4FZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF ENVIRONMENTAL WEIGHT LIMIT) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2023
To allow new water main connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Sweechgate, Broad Oak, on or after 23rd October 2023, for up to 5 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with A291 Herne Bay Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The environmental weight limit on Shalloak Road and Sweechgate will be suspended.
The alternative route is via A291 Herne Bay Road, Sturry Hill, A28 Mill Road, Sturry Road, Vauxhall Road, Broad Oak Road, Shalloak Road, Sweechgate and vice versa.
The Avenue, Hersden. CT3 4GD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2023
To allow pipework repairs to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Avenue, Hersden, on or after 23rd October 2023, for up to 11 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between numbers 94 and 104, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via The Avenue, The Sycamores, A28 Island Road, Blackthorn Road and vice versa.
White Horse Lane, Canterbury. CT1 2TG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2023
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of White Horse Lane, Canterbury, on or after 23rd October 2023, for up to 5 days, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with Jewry Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Wraik Hill, Whitstable. CT5 3FW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2023
To allow replacement pole works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Wraik Hill, Whitstable, on or after 23rd October 2023, for up to 1 day, between the hours of 09.30 and 15.30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Willow Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Wraik Hill, Fox’s Cross Road, A290 Pean Hill, Clapham Hill and vice versa.
Various Roads, Herne Bay. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2023
To allow gas main replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of various roads in Herne Bay, on or after 23rd October 2023, with estimated completion by 22nd December 2023, or until the works have been completed.

Phase 1
Lower Herne Road will be closed from 23rd October 2023, with estimated completion by 24th November 2023.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 23, to the junction with A291 Canterbury Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Lower Herne Road, A291 Canterbury Road and vice versa.
Lower Herne Road, Herne Bay
Phase 2
Lower Herne Road will be closed from 13th November 2023, with estimated completion by 1st December 2023.
The road will be closed from the junction with A291 Canterbury Road, to number 37, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Lower Herne Road, A291 Canterbury Road and vice versa.
Mill View Road, Herne Bay
Mill View Road will be closed from 27th November 2023, with estimated completion by 22nd December 2023.
The road will be closed from the junction with A291 Canterbury Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route is via Mill View Road, Mill Lane, School Lane, A291 Canterbury Road and vice versa.
A291 Canterbury Road (service road) , Herne Bay
A291 Canterbury Road will be closed from 27th November 2023, with estimated completion by 22nd December 2023, between the hours of 09.00 and 16.00. The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
