OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(BENSON AND EWELME AREA) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 20**

NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the order - in support of road safety issues - is to extend the existing 20mph speed limit within Ewelme (which was introduced in March 2022) replacing the existing 30mph speed limit on the additional sections of road:

a) Benson Road - from its junction with Green Lane, north-westwards for a distance of 75 metres,

b) Eyre's Lane - from its junction with High Street, northeastwards for a distance of 220 metres,

c) Green Lane - from its junction with Benson Road, southwards for a distance of 340 metres.

The Oxfordshire County Council (Benson and Ewelme Area) (Speed Limits) Order 2023 will be revoked/replaced as necessary.

Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds on which they are made may be sent in writing to the address below by the end of 03 November 2023. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response to this Notice. They may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public. (Ref: CM/12.6.204)

3. (ST HELEN WITHOUT PARISH) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2023

NOTICE is given that on 9 October 2023 Oxfordshire County Council made the above orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the orders, which come into force on 16 October is to lower speed limits in the Abingdon area as follows.

A. 20mph speed limit throughout Abingdon town, replacing the majority* of the 30mph speed limits within the main residential roads i.e. those bounded by the 'ring road', and those south of the river Ock in their entirety, leading out of the town to various points on:

1. A415 Abingdon Road,

2. B4017 Drayton Road,

3. Marcham Road

4. Faringdon Road

5. B4017 Wootton Road

6. A4183 Oxford Road, and

7. Radley Road.

B. Reduction of the existing 40mph speed limits to 30mph on the 'ring road' as follows:

1. Audlett Drive - between Radley Road & a point 60 metres east of its junction with Curtis Avenue,

2. Twelve Acre Drive - between its roundabout junctions with Dunmore Road & Audlett Drive

3. Dunmore Road - between its roundabout junctions with Copenhagen Drive & Twelve Acre Drive,

4. Copenhagen Drive - between its roundabout junctions with Colwell Drive & Dunmore Road

5. Colwell Drive - between its roundabout junctions with Copenhagen Drive & the A415 Marcham Road.

* Sections of existing 30mph speed limit on the A415 Marcham Road, Colwell Drive, Nuffield Way, A4183 Oxford Road, Radley Road, B4017 Drayton Road & B4017 Wootton Road will be retained, along with the existing 40mph speed limit on the B4017 Drayton Road (in the parishes of Abingdon and Drayton). All of which having taken the current road environment & traffic usage into account. The Oxfordshire County Council (Abingdon) (Speed Limit) Order 2021, the Oxfordshire County Council (Culham Parish) (Speed Limits) Order 2019, and the Oxfordshire County Council (St Helen Without Parish) (Speed Limits) Order 2021 are revoked/replaced.
