Church Road - Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles

What is happening?

SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNCIL

(Church Road, Winterbourne Down) (No.2) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2023
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Church Road, which extends from a point 10m east of Mill Road eastwards for 20m. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon new water connection works on or adjacent to the highway. The order will be operative from 8 November 2023 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 
The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration. Alternative route: Mill Road, Dragon Road, Down Road, Church Road (parts unaffected) and vice versa

(Aldermoor Way, Longwell Green) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2023
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Aldermoor Way which extends from its closed end northwards for 115m. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon demolition and construction works. The order will be operative from 6 November 2023 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 6 months duration. No alternative route available

(Midland Way and Morton Way, Thornbury) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2023
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of road specified in column 1 of Schedule 1 to this notice. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with carriageway reconstruction and widening works. The order will be operative from 6 November 2023 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works. It is anticipated that the works relating to each location will be carried out between the hours of 8pm and 6am on the dates specified in relation to each length of road in column 2 of the said Schedule

(Itchington Road, Tytherington) (No.3) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2023
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Itchington Road which extends from a point 670m south west of The Nurseries south westwards for 480m. 
This order is required for the following reason: in connection with pole testing works. The order will be operative from 8 November 2023 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration. Alternative route: Itchington Road, A38, Stowell Hill Road and vice versa

(Trench Lane, Winterbourne) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2023
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Trench Lane which extends from Old Gloucester Road north westwards for 750m. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon water main renovation works on or adjacent to the highway. The order will be operative from 6 November 2023 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 
The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 month duration. 
Alternative route: Bowsland Way, Bradley Stoke Way, Winterbourne Road, Old Gloucester Road and vice versa

(Players Close, Hambrook) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2023
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Players Close which extends from a point 120m south Old Gloucester Road southwards for 40m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with manhole cover renewal works. The order became operative from 20 October 2023 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration. No alternative route available

(Mill Lane, Bitton) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2023
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Mill Lane which extends from Golden Valley Lane south eastwards for 250m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon new electricity supply works on or adjacent to the highway. The order became operative from 16 October 2023 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 week duration.

(Public Footpath LSO/10/30, Chipping Sodbury) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers) Order 2022
Notice is hereby given that the above order, made by South Gloucestershire District Council on 13 April 2022, has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport until 24 April 2024 or until such time as the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. The effect of the order has closed, temporarily, to foot passengers the entire length of Public Footpath LSO/10/30. This order was required in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon new development construction works and would have expired on 24 October 2023.

Please note that the law requires that any comments received on a planning application are made publicly available.
In the event that an appeal is made against the decision of the Council to refuse to grant planning permission for the proposed development, and that appeal then proceeds by way of the expedited procedure under the written representations procedure, any representations made to the council about this application will be passed to the Secretary of State and there will be no opportunity to make further representations.
