What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on the 5th day of October 2023 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8), (9) & (10). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (11) & (12).

(1) CRANBROOK AVENUE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of north-east bound carriageway on Cranbrook Avenue, York between its junction with Boroughbridge Road and a location 30 metres southwest of said junction (closed carriageway) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2200hrs on Monday, 09 October 2023 and ending at 0600hrs on Saturday, 14 October 2023 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the carriageway will only be closed between 2200hrs and 0600hrs each night. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Almsford Road, Carr Lane, Boroughbridge Road.

(2) COLLIERGATE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Colliergate, York between its junctions with St. Saviourgate and St. Andrewgate (closed road) during the period when hostile vehicle mitigation works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0730hrs on Monday, 09 October 2023 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 17 November 2023 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, the loading bay on the west side of Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate will be suspended for the duration of the works. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Church Street, Parliament Street. Pavement.

(3) BLACK DIKE LANE, POPPLETON

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Black Dike Lane, Poppleton between its junction with Manor Close and the projected north-eastern boundary of property No. 1 (closed road) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Wednesday, 11 October 2023 and ending at 1430hrs on Wednesday, 11 October 2023 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via The Green, Hodgson Lane, A59, Black Dike Lane.

(4) MANSFIELD STREET, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Mansfield Street, York between the projected north-eastern boundaries of property No's 2 and 17 (closed road) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Wednesday, 11 October 2023 and ending at 1900hrs on Thursday, 12 October 2023 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1900hrs each day.

(5) BURTON STONE LANE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Burton Stone Lane, York between its junction with Clifton and a location 52 metres north-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when gas mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 09 October 2023 and ending at 1600hrs on Friday, 13 October 2023 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Crichton Avenue, Burdyke Avenue, Water Lane, Clifton.

(6) APPLETON ROAD, BISHOPTHORPE

This Order imposes a weight restriction of 18 tonnes Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) on vehicles proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Appleton Road, Bishopthorpe between locations 170 metres and 215 metres south-west of the junction with Maple Avenue (restricted road), commencing at 0001 hrs on Friday, 06 October 2023 and ending at 2359hrs on Sunday, 06 April 2025 (works period) or at a time when bridge repair works have taken place. This is to ensure the safety of bridge users.

(7) MAIN STREET (AMENDMENT), ELVINGTON

This Order amends The Elvington (Main Street) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2023 (original Order). The effect of which is to extend the works period, the said amendment to be effective from 1900 hours on Wednesday, 04 October 2023 and ending at 0300hours on Saturday, 07 October 2023 and to extend the area of closed road to include that length of road on Main Street between its junctions with Riverside Gardens and White House Grove. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period.

(8) A59 - NURSERY TO RED LION & RED LION TO SHIRBUTT LANE (AMENDMENT), POPPLETON

This Order amends The Poppleton (the A59) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2023 (original Order). The effect of which is to extend the works period, the said amendment to be effective from 2100 hours on Monday, 02 October 2023 and ending at 0500hours on Saturday, 07 October 2023 and to extend the area of closed road to include that length of road on the A59 between the junctions with Black Dykes Lane & Burlands Lane. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period.

(9) BISHOPTHORPE ROAD (AMENDMENT), YORK

This Order amends The York (Bishopthorpe Road) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2023 (original Order). The effect of which is to extend the area of closed road to include that length of road on Bishopthorpe Road between Ebor Street & Darnborough Street. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period.

(10) KENT STREET (CONTINUATION), YORK

This Order continues in force The York (Kent Street) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2023 (original Order). The effect of which is to continue in force the prohibition on vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Kent Street, York between its junctions with Fawcett Street and Barbican Road (closed road) during the period commencing at 0001 hours on Monday, 09 October 2023 and ending at 2359hrs on Sunday, 19 November 2023 (works period) or on a date when drainage and highway resurfacing works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Access to the Fire Station and Q-Park Car Park will be maintained at all times. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period.

(11) QUEEN STREET, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Queen Street, York on the section of Queen Street leading down to the York Railway Institute between the projected southeastern boundary of property No. 11 and a location 3 metres north-west of the projected north-western boundary of York Railway Institute building (closed road) during the period when York Station Gateway works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0730hrs on Monday, 16 October 2023 and ending at 1700hrs on Sunday, 26 November 2023 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period.

(12) HOSPITAL FIELDS ROAD, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Hospital Fields Road, York between the projected southern boundary of property No. 29 and a location 46 metres north of said projected boundary (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Wednesday, 18 October 2023 and ending at 0600hrs on Friday, 20 October 2023 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 2000hrs and 0600hrs each night. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
