What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (WELL LANE AND A596 QUEEN STREET AND LAWSON STREET, ASPATRIA) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Northern Gas Networks to carry out utility works ("the Works"), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road: 1.A596 Queen Street, Aspatria, from its junction with Harriston Road, extending in a south westerly direction for approx 120m.

Duration: From 9 October 2023 for approx. 2 weeks (Ref: TTRO/7112)

2.A596 Lawson Street, Aspatria, from a point approx. 70m north

east of its junction with the B5299 Brayton Road and Queen

Street, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 130m.

Duration: From 23 October 2023 for approx. 3 weeks (Ref: TTRO/7115)

3.A596 Queen Street, Aspatria from its junction with Harriston

Road to its junction with the B5299 Brayton Road.

Duration: From 30 October 2023 for approx. 2 weeks (Ref: TTRO/7119)

Alternative Route during the restrictions detailed in 1 to 3 above: via the unrestricted sections of the A596, Wigton Bypass, Thursby Bypass, A595 Bothel, A66, Stainburn Road, Ramsay Brow, Bridge Street, Hall Brow, Northside Road and the A596 Maryport 4.Well Lane, Maryport, from its junction with Senhouse Street extending in a southerly direction for approx. 70m. There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

Duration: From 20 November 2023 for approx. 3 weeks (Ref: TTRO/6759)

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

(i) Apply emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by

statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and (ii)Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

(iii)Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the

roads; and

(iv)Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 373 3736 or via the Cumberland Council website. The references to quote are stated above.

The Order will come into operation on 9 October 2023 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
