(VARIOUS ROADS, CITYWIDE, BRISTOL) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY VEHICLES) (TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF RESERVED BUS LANES) (TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF ONE WAY TRAFFIC) (TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2023

NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an Order the effect of which is:

1. to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads as specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice;

2. to suspend, temporarily, when appropriate signs are covered, the existing bus lanes in:–

(a) St. Augustines Parade, northbound between No. 10 St. Augustines Parade and Baldwin Street;

(b) Baldwin Street, eastbound between St. Augustines Parade and Marsh Street – so as to give effect to the Phase 4 alternative route (see Schedule 2) as a consequence of item 1. above;

3. to suspend, temporarily, when appropriate signs are covered, the existing one way traffic working in a south easterly direction in Christmas Street so as to allow access and egress for works vehicles; and

4. to suspend, temporarily, when appropriate signs are covered, the existing prohibition of driving between 7.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m. for any vehicle other than a bus or pedal cycle proceeding in East Street from Cannon Street to Dean Street so as to give effect to the Phase 3 north eastbound alternative route (see Schedule 2) as a consequence of item 1. above.

The Order was required because carriageway resurfacing works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the roads and becomes operative from 15th October 2023 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period, but only when traffic signs are in position as necessitated by the carriageway resurfacing works (which are anticipated to be of between 2 and 5 days or nights duration for each closure).

In addition, the closure of lengths of roads specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice which also provide part of an alternative route (as specified in Schedule 2 to this Notice) will be managed so as to allow the provision of the alternative routes whilst facilitating the works programme.
