TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF FOOTPATH CHS 16 (SWINDON PARISH) CHELTENHAM BOROUGH

NOTICE is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport has extended the Order to close temporarily under Sections 14, 15 and 16 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 (as amended) part of Public Footpath CHS 16 from its junction with the Track from Tewkesbury Road to Manor Road past Swindon Farm extending in a generally North Easterly direction for approximately 360 metres to its junction with Dog Bart Lane.

The closure is necessary to safeguard the public whilst construction works take place.

This Temporary Closure Order came into force on the 25th October 2021 and it was anticipated the said Public Footpath would be closed until 25th April 2022. However, it was not possible to complete the works within that timescale and it was necessary for an application to be made to the Secretary of State for an extension.

The extension was granted and the said Public Footpath was to remain closed until 25th October 2023. However, as the works are still not complete, the Secretary of State has granted a further extension and the said Public Footpath will remain closed until 25th April 2025 or until completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.

Alternative route – not available. Emergency and pedestrian access to properties will not be
maintained as there are no adjoining premises that require access.

Date: 5th October 2023.

Further advance warnings of dates/times will be displayed on site prior to the closure/restrictions taking effect. This order can permit the closure and restriction of the roads and footpath in any order, or simultaneously as required and it is anticipated all works will be completed by 16th December 2023.
