What is happening?
THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
D4021 Rydes Hill Road, Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
On 04 October 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of D4021 Rydes Hill Road, Guildford that extends from the north-eastern property boundary of “No. 123 Rydes Hill Road”, to the north-eastern property boundary of “Moonrakers”. This Traffic Order is required to enable Affinity Water to replace a ferrule and/or to carry out water mains connection and/or maintenance works. These works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 8am and 5pm, within 4 days of the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 17 October 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure which is anticipated to be required for 24 hours each day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. There is no applicable alternative route however access for emergency vehicles, residents, businesses, pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times by means of road plates.
Heathvale Bridge Road (D898) Ash Vale Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
On 04 October 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Heathvale Bridge Road (D898) Ash Vale as extends from its junction with (X321) Pine Close to its junction with (D898) Hutton Road. Alternative Route: (D898) Hutton Road, Prospect Road, (D76) Wharf Road, (B3411) Vale Road, and (D898) Heathvale Bridge Road or this route in reverse. This Order is required to facilitate highways improvement and/or maintenance works for, or on behalf of Surrey County Council. These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible within the 18-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 16 October 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in force 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Due to the nature of the works, it will not be possible to maintain vehicular access through the closure, and all vehicular traffic, including the emergency services will be required to use the signed diversion route. No sole access will be affected by this closure.
Claygate Lane (D6815), Thames Ditton Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
On 4 October 2023 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) and (7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to:- 1. prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Claygate Lane (D6815), Thames Ditton which extends from its junction with Lynwood Road (D6815) to its junction with Brooklands Road (D6815). 2. Suspend the “Surrey County Council Claygate Lane (D6815) Esher Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023” in its entirety. Alternative Route – Claygate Lane (D6815), Portsmouth Road (A307), Angel Road (D6810), Manor Road North (D6813) or the same route in reverse.
The Order is required to allow Amberon Ltd to carry out bridge works which is anticipated to be completed between 10:00pm and 6:00am within 1 night of the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 10 October 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency vehicles, residents, businesses, pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times.
Green Dene (C44/D259) and Crocknorth Road (C44) East Horsley Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
On 4 October 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to carry out carriageway surfacing and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be carried out between 7am and 5pm, as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 11 October 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. Access to premises within the affected length of roads, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists. Alternative Route 1 – C44 Crocknorth Road, C43 Critten Lane, C43 Beech Avenue, A246 Guildford Road and C44 Green Dene. Alternative Route 2 – C44 Green Dene, D259 Green Dene, D262 Chalk Lane, A246 Guildford Road and C44 Green Dene.

Amberley Road (D665) Milford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
On 4 October 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Amberley Road (D665) Milford which extends from its northwesternmost junction with Old Elstead Road to the property boundary line of Nos. 34 and 35 Amberley Road. This Order is required to enable Thames Water to carry out mains replacement works and any other associated water works, which is anticipated to be completed approximately within 3 months, between 8am and 6pm on weekdays and between 8am and 5pm on Saturdays, during the 12 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 9 October 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in force 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road including access by emergency vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists. Alternative Route – Old Elstead Road and Amberley Road.
Mill Road (D6900) and Farm Road (D6900) Esher Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
On 4 October 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire lengths of Mill Road (D6900) and Farm Road (D6900) Esher. This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to carry out carriageway surfacing and/ or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be carried out between 7am and 5pm, as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 12 October 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. Access to premises within the affected length of roads or accessible only therefrom, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists. Access for buses may be affected. There is no diversion route available for these road closures.
Clarence Street (A308) Staines-Upon-Thames Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
On 4 October 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire lengths of the eastbound and westbound carriageways of Clarence Street (A308) Staines-Upon-Thames. This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to carry out carriageway surfacing and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be carried out between 7am and 5pm, as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 11 October 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. Access to premises within the affected length of roads, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists. D5407 Quartermile Lane, Godalming and, D151 Church Lane, Brook and Witley Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
On 04 October 2023 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in:- 1. That length of D5407 Quartermile Lane, Godalming that extends from its junction with D169 Tuesley Lane, to its junction with D5405 Busbridge Lane. Works are anticipated to be carried out within 2 days from 30/10/23. The vehicular diversion route will be via Tuesley Lane, Park Road and Busbridge Lane. 2. The entire length of D151 Church Lane, Brook and Witley. Works are anticipated to be carried out in sections:- a) In the length of D151 Church Lane, Witley that extends from its junction with A283 Petworth Road, for a distance of 150m (i) within 3 days from 23/10/23; and (ii) within 3 days from 18/12/23. The vehicular diversion route will be via Petworth Road, Brook Road, Bannacle Hill Road and Church Lane. b) In the length of D151 Church Lane, Brook that extends from its junction with A286 Haslemere Road, for a distance of 150m within 2 days from 13/11/23.
The vehicular diversion route will be via Church Lane, Brook Road and Haslemere Road.
This Traffic Order is required to enable BT Openreach to access underground structures and/or make new customer connections and/or carry out desilting to enable cabling works for fibre network delivery and/or poling and/or maintenance works. These works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 9:30am and 3.30pm within 8 days of the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 23 October 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closures will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, residents, businesses, pedestrians and, dismounted cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times under direction of operatives on site.
Ridgemead Road (D3110), Englefield Green, Egham Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Ridgemead Road (D3110), Englefield Green, Egham which extends from the junction of the property known as ‘Beech Hill Lodge’ to approximately 107m westwards. Alternative Route – Crimp Hill (D3110), Bishopsgate Road (D3111) and Castle Hill Road (D3110) or the same route in reverse.
The Order is required to allow Cadent Gas to carry out gas works which is anticipated to be completed within 12 days, between 8:00am and 5:00pm, during the 12 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 23 October 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. No soul access to any property will be affected within the closure. Access for emergency vehicle, pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times.
B376 Bridge Street, B376 Wraysbury Road and D3283 Hale Street, Staines upon Thames Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1)(7) and Part IV to Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to:- 1. Prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in:- a) The entire length of B376 Bridge Street, Staines upon Thames. b) That length of B376 Wraysbury Road, Staines upon Thames that extends from its junction with B376 Bridge Street, to the boundary of Surrey County Council with Windsor and Maidenhead Unitary Authority. c) That length of D3283 Hale Street, Staines upon Thames that extends from its junction with B376 Wraysbury Road, to the western side of its roundabout junction with D3283 Two Rivers Shopping Park. 2. Suspend the First Schedule to “The Spelthorne Borough Council (Staines Bridge and Church Street, Staines)(Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles)Order 1987”. 3. Revoke Part g) to the Schedule to “The Surrey County Council Various Roads in Spelthorne Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023.”
This Traffic Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to carry out major maintenance and/or carriageway resurfacing and/or improvement works. These works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 8pm and 6am, as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 30 October 2023.
Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closures will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, pedestrians and, dismounted cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained via the vehicular diversion routes and/or access provisions described below:- From the southern end of closure, B376 Bridge Street – A308 Staines Bridge, A308 Chertsey Lane, A308 The Causeway, A308 The Glanty, A30 Egham By-Pass, A30 Slip Road, A30 Staines By-Pass, Heron Lake Road and B376 Wraysbury Road. From the northern end of closure, B376 Wraysbury Road – B376 Wraysbury Road, Heron Lake Road, A30 Staines By-Pass R/A, A30 Slip Road, A308 The Glanty, A308 Egham By-Pass, A308 The Glanty, A308 The Causeway, A308 Chertsey Lane R/A and A308 Staines Bridge. For Hale Street – D6362 Mustard Hill Road, A308 South Street, A308 Thames Street, A308 Clarence Street and then join main diversion route as above. Note – Traffic will be able to access A308 Staines Bridge as normal but only go right into Clarence Street towards Crooked Billet R/A. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner.
River Bank (A3050) East Molesey Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of River Bank (A3050) East Molesey as extends from its junction with (D6935) Feltham Avenue to its junction with (A3050) Hurst Road. Alternative Route: (1) (A3050) Bridge Road, (A309) Hampton Court Way, (A3050) Creek Road, (B3379) Bridge Road, (B369) Walton Road, and (A3050) Hurst Road; (2) (A3050) Hurst Road, (B369) Walton Road, and (B3379) Bridge Road, (A3050) Bridge Road. This Order is required to facilitate installation of electrical works for, or on behalf of UKPN. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 2 nights and 3 days between the hours of 8pm and 6pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 03 November 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time, under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24 hour period.
Papercourt Lane (D236) Ripley Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Papercourt Lane (D236) Ripley. Alternative Route: Tannery Lane, Polesden Lane, and (B367) Newark Lane, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to facilitate installation of new water connection works for, or on behalf of ALS Civil. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 26 days between the hours of 8am and 6pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 30 October 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, via the road plates on site, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists.
Wellington Way (D3912) Weybridge Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of the eastbound carriageway of Wellington Way (D3912) Weybridge which extends from its roundabout junction with The Heights, eastwards for a distance of 40m. This Order is required to enable Centurion to facilitate telecommunication works, which is anticipated to be completed within 2 days, between 8am and 6pm, during the 12 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 22 June 2020. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road including access by emergency vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists. Alternative Route – Brooklands Road, Parvis Road and Sopwith Drive or vice versa.
Various Roads in Waverley Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.6) 2023
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. This Order, which will commence on 30 October 2023 for a period of 18 months is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the said roads, to be carried out by or on behalf of Surrey County Council, including but not limited to: carriageway/footway patching and/or carriageway/footway surface dressing and/ or carriageway/footway resurfacing and/or major highway maintenance works. Advanced warning signs will be displayed; and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, as will access for emergency service vehicles in an emergency situation only. Vehicular access for residents and businesses will be maintained only when safe to do so, if necessary, via the diversion routes. During certain phases of the works, vehicular access to premises may be restricted, when this is the case such restriction of access will apply for no more than eight hours within any 24-hour period.

Holloway Hill (D169), Godalming Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Holloway Hill (D169), Godalming which extends between the outside of the property known as Holt House and Troy House. Alternative Route – Holloway Hill (D169), Tuesley lane (D169), Park Road (D5406), The Drive (D5406), Brighton Road (D2130) and Flambard Way (A3100) or the same route in reverse.
The Order is required to allow BT Openreach to carry out Telecom works which is anticipated to be completed within 3 days, between 8:00am and 6:00pm, during the 12 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 23 October 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access for emergency vehicles and residents will be maintained with in the closure.

Public Bridleway 152 (Shere) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1) & (2)
On 5 October 2023 Surrey County Council made the above temporary closure order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along the bridleway as it crosses the railway at Shere Heath Crossing. This is shown as a solid black line between points A (GR 506961 146776) to point B (GR 506983 146762) on the closure plan.
The Order is necessary on the grounds of public safety due to the railway crossing being deemed dangerous to the public. The closure is in operation from 9 October 2023 for 6 months or until completion of the works, if earlier. The Secretary of State for Transport can extend that period if required.
The prohibition described above will only be operative while the County Council, or an authorised person acting on its behalf, displays signs prohibiting the said movements.
The alternative route for traffic on foot from the northwestern end of the closure is to proceed in a north easterly direction along Bridleway 151, Shere Heath Road in a north easterly direction, Sandy Lane in a southerly direction and then Bridleway 152 in a south easterly direction as shown as shown by the broken black line on the map below. The alternative route from the south westerly end of the closure will be the reverse of the above. Private means of access to premises is exempt from the closure.
There is no alternative route for traffic on horseback or cycle.
The Surrey County Council Public Bridleway 152 (Shere) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023 was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) & (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
