NOTICE OF MAKING 2023

NOTICE is hereby given that Bridgend County Borough Council (“the Council”) has made a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order in exercise of its powers under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

On 21 August 2023, the Council gave notice of its intention to make the Bridgend County Borough (Various Roads) (Revocations and Variations of Speed Limits) Traffic Regulation Order (“the Proposed Permanent Order”). The key effect of the Proposed Permanent Order is to retain a 30-mph speed limit in various locations after the reduction, on 17 September 2023, of the speed limit on restricted roads in Wales to 20-mph.

This Temporary Traffic Regulation Order is needed to prevent danger to the public by covering the period between 17 September 2023 and the coming into force of the Proposed Permanent Order. It came into effect on 17 September 2023 and will expire on 16 March 2025 or on such earlier date that the Proposed Permanent Order comes into force.

The locations at which a 30-mph speed limit are retained by virtue of this temporary order are set out in Schedules 1 and 4 below. Schedule 2 specifies locations at which a 20-mph speed limit will operate when signs indicate. Schedule 3 specifies a 20-mph speed limit at a single location which is to be designated as a restricted road under the Proposed Permanent Order.
