Pocket Nook Lane, Kay Gardens & Kay Nook, Lowton - 20mph Speed Limit Notice of Proposals

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 82(2), 83(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, proposes to make The Wigan Borough (Pocket Nook Lane, Kay Gardens & Kay Nook, Lowton) (20 mph Speed Limit) Order 2023. The effect of the Order will be to impose a speed limit of 20 miles per hour on the following roads: Kay Gardens, Lowton Kay Nook, Lowton

A copy of the proposed Order, the relevant map and a statement of the reasons for proposing to make the Order may be requested by emailing S.Eccles-Churton@wigan.gov.uk.

Leigh Street & Faith Street, Leigh - Prohibition of Driving Order Notice of Making

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Sections 1, 2, 3, 4 and 92 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, has made the Wigan Borough (Leigh Street & Faith Street, Leigh) (Prohibition of Driving) Order 2023 which will come into operation on 21st September 2023. The effect of the Order will be to Prohibit Driving on:

  • Leigh Street, Leigh from its junction with Firs Lane for its entire length on any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, 8:00am - 9:30am.
  • Faith Street, Leigh from a point 65 metres from its junction with Firs Lane to encompass the cul-de-sac only in a north easterly direction on any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, 2:30pm - 4:00pm.

A copy of the Order and of the relevant map may be requested by post, or by emailing d.birchall@wigan.gov.uk.

Any person who desires to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained therein on the ground -

(a) that is not within the powers of Section 1 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984; or

(b) that any requirement of the said Section 1, or Part III of Schedule 9 to the said Act, or of any regulations made under the said Part III of Schedule 9, has not been complied with, may within six weeks of make application for the purpose to the High Court.

Proposed Extension of Public Spaces Protection Orders (Formerly Gating Orders) No. 1 - No. 322 (Various Locations) Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014

Notice is hereby given that Wigan Borough Council ("the Council") proposes to extend the above Public Spaces Protection Order ("the Order") under section 59, 64 and 72 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 ("the Act"). Wigan Borough Council ("the Council") being the appropriate local authority and in pursuance of its powers under the Highways Act 1980, made 322 Gating Orders which on 20th October 2017 automatically transitioned to Public Spaces Protection Orders ("the Original Orders") pursuant to the Act as described in the first schedule.

On 19th October 2020, the Council being the appropriate local authority and in pursuance of its powers under the Act extended the Original Orders and subsequently made the Public Spaces Protection Order (formerly gating order) No.1 - No. 322 (various locations), for a period of 3 years. It is proposed that the Council, in its capacity as local authority and in pursuance of the Section 60 of the Act and all other enabling powers, extends the Public Spaces Protection Order (formerly gating order) No.1 - No. 322 (various locations), (as described in the first schedule).

If a person is found in breach of any conditions of the order, they shall under section 63 and/or 67 of the Act is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale or fixed penalty notice.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Coronation Drive Leigh during the period of 9.30am - 3pm on 16/11/2023.

The alternative route for traffic is: Queensway, Regent Drive and Richmond Drive The Order is necessary to allow a frame and cover replacement.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Various Roads in Wigan Borough) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No. 571) Order 2023 The effect of the Order will be to introduce no waiting at any time on:

? Carlton Road Lowton - both sides from its junction with Hilary Avenue to a point 10 metres Northwest of its junction with Hilary Avenue

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Butchers Lane, Ashton in Makerfield) (Temporary Closure) Order 2023

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Butchers Lane, Ashton in Makerfield during the period of 08:00-14:00 commencing on 17/09/2023. The alternative route for traffic is: Gerard Street, Warrington Road, Heath Road The Order is necessary to allow for scaffold removal.
