Burdett Road, Temporary Prohibition of Traffic and Stopping
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 THE A1205 GLA ROAD (BURDETT ROAD, LONDON BOROUGH OF TOWER HAMLETS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND STOPPING) ORDER 2023
1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.
2. The purpose of the Order is to enable water main installation works to take place at A1205 Burdett.
3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:
(1) turning right from Burdett Road into Portia Way;
(2) turning right from Burdett Road into the unnamed access road to Mile End Park Leisure Centre;
(3) turning right from the unnamed access road of Mile End Park Leisure Centre into Burdett Road;
(4) stopping in the Parking and Disabled Persons Vehicles bay outside No.139 Burdett Road (Evelyn Court);
(5) stopping in the Electric Taxi charging only bay sited on Burdett Road and adjacent to Nos.141-187 Wager Street
The Order also permits all vehicles to use the northeast bound bus lane on:
(6) Burdett Road between its junction with Portia Way and the unnamed access road to Mile End Park Leisure Centre.
The Order will be effective at certain times from 7:00 AM on 2nd October 2023 until 7:00 PM on 8* October 2023 or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibition will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:
(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;
(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.
5. At such times as the prohibitions are in force alternative routes will be indicated by traffic signs via (for traffic wishing to turn into Portia Way) Burdett Road and Bow Common Lane to normal route of travel; (for traffic banned from turning into the leisure centre) Ackroyd Drive, Bow Common Lane, St Pauls Way and Burdett Road to normal route of travel; (for traffic banned from turning right out from the leisure centre) Bow Common Lane and Eric Street to normal route of travel.
