Durham, Multiple Roads, Temporary Road & Footpath Closures Due To Infrastructure Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Thorntons Close, Thornton Lea, Kings Lane, Kings Court, Pelton) (Temporary Road, Footpath and Footway Closure) Order 2023

The Council on 8/9/23 made the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit all vehicular and pedestrian traffic from proceeding as follows:

Temporary Road Closures Thorntons Close - a 15 metre length outside nos.175-180 and 187-188 Kings Court - a 40 metre extending north from the junction with Front Street Kings Lane - a 20 metre outside nos.193-195 Thorntons Close Thornton Lea - a 10 metre length extending west from outside no.1 Thorntons Close Temporary Footpath and Footway Closures Thorntons Close - a 65 metre length of footway to the south of nos.41 -50, a 42 metre length of footpath to the western side of nos.12-20, a 38 metre length of footway between nos.15-37, a 112 metre length of footpath between nos.37-70, a 65 metre length of footway between nos.51-60, a 100 metre length of footpath between nos.88 to side 67 and south of 67-76, a 62 metre length of footpath from the south of no.145 to side no.166, a 35 metre length of footpath to the western side of nos.153-160, a 135 metre length of footpath between nos.109-117, then eastern side of nos.119-124 and from side no.124 to southern side of no.125, a 32 metre length of footpath from western side of no.103 to 113/114 Kings Lane - a 30 metre length from rear nos.19-15 Kingsway Villas and extending north to the rear of the garages Thornton Lea - a 90 metre length extending south from outside no.35/36, then east to outside no.5 to enable new fibre telecom infrastructure installations works to be undertaken.

Alternative routes, where available, will be signed on site during the daytime works. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The proposed works are to commence from 8am on 18/9/23 and are anticipated to be completed in 11 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
