What is happening?
THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
High Street (B2215), Rose Lane, Ripley Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
On 13 September 2023 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of High Street (B2215), Rose Lane, Ripley which extends from its junction with Newark Lane (B367) to its junction with The Green (X7042) a distance of 50m.
The Order is required to allow Surrey County Council to carry out electrical works which is anticipated to be completed within 4 days during the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 19 September 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day. The working will be to prohibit any vehicle travelling southwards on High Street, Ripley from making a right turn into The Green/service road to the shops.
Rickyard (D4000) Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
On 13 September 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Rickyard (D4000) Guildford. Alternative Route: Applegarth Avenue and Homestall or this route in reverse. This Order is required to facilitate new water connection works for, or on behalf of Affinity Water. These works are anticipated to be carried out within 3 days between the hours of 8am and 6pm within 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 27 September 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for residents, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. All other traffic, including the emergency services will be required to use the signed diversion route.
Various Roads in the Borough of Elmbridge Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.4) 2023
On 13 September 2023 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 of the Act the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of road described in the Schedule to this Notice. This Order is required to facilitate highways improvement and/or maintenance works by or on behalf of Surrey County Council. These works are anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within 18-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 30 September 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in force 24 per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access to premises within the affected length of road including access by emergency vehicles to these properties will be maintained only when safe to do so, if necessary, via the diversion route. All other traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route. During certain phases of the works, vehicular access to premises may be restricted, when this is the case such restriction of access will apply for no more than eight hours within any 24-hour period.
Schedule
(i) that length of Baker Street (C154) Weybridge as extends from its junction with (D3884) Springfield Meadows to its junction with (A317) Monument Hill. There is no alternative route for this closure.
(ii)that length of Monument Hill (A317) Weybridge as extends from its junction with (D3918) Castleview Road to its junction with (D3918) Manor Court. Alternative Route: (A317) Monument Hill, (A317) Queens Road, (B373) Hanger Hill, (B374) Heath Road, (B374) Church Street, (A317) Church Street, (A317) High Street, and (A317) Monument Hill.
(iii) that length of Queens Road (A317) Weybridge as extends from its junction with (X68502) North Common to its junction with (X6398) Oakfield Glade. Alternative Route: (A317) Queens Road, (A317) Monument Hill, (A317) High Street, (B373) Church Street, (A317) Balfour Road, (A317) Weybridge Road, (B3121) Station Road, (A318) Brighton Road, (A318) New Haw Road, (B385) Woodham Lane, (A245) Sheerwater Road, (A245) Old Woking Road, (A245) Parvis Road, (A245) Byfleet Road, (B365) Seven Hills Road, and Queens Road.
Service Road Fronting 155 to 171 Horton Road (D3208) Stanwell Moor
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
On 13 September 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Service Road Fronting 155 to 171 Horton Road (D3208) Stanwell Moor. This Order is required to enable Affinity Water to carry out pipe servicing works and/or water works, which is anticipated to be completed within 5 days, between 8am and 4pm, during the 12 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 21 September 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in force 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road including access by emergency vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists. Alternative Route – Horton Road.
Vernon Way (D4001), Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
On 13 September 2023 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Vernon Way (D4001), Guildford which extends from its junction with Southway (D4001) to its junction with Linkway (D4001).
Alternative Route – Linkway (D4001), Fairfield Rise (D4001) and Southway (D4001) or the same route in reverse.
The Order is required to allow Road Traffic Solutions to carry out electrical works which is anticipated to be completed within 5 days during the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 18 September 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access for emergency vehicles and residents will be maintained with in the closure.
Overford Drive (D922) Cranleigh Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
On 13 September 2023 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to (a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Overford Drive (D922) Cranleigh as extends from its junction with (B2128) Horsham Road to its junction with the access to the rear of the property known as “Broadoak Lodge”; and (b) suspend “The Surrey County Council D922 Overford Drive, Cranleigh Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2022” insofar as it affects that length of road specified in part (a) to this Notice. Alternative Route – Horsham Road; Hitherwood; and Overford Drive or this same route in reverse. The Order is required to allow mains gas replacement and/or any other associated works to be carried out by, or on behalf of SGN within the length of road described in this notice. These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible over 4 weeks within the 12-month period of operation of the Temporary Order that commences on 18 September 2023. Working hours are anticipated to be between the hours of 8am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday, however there may be some Saturday working if and when required. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Due to the nature of the works, there will be no vehicular access through the closure area and all traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route. No sole access will be affected.
Various Roads in The Borough Of Guildford (Guildford 10k Event) (Temporary Traffic Measures) Order 2023
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Order, pursuant to Sections 16A and 16B of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit all vehicles and persons riding, leading or driving horses or any other animals from entering or proceeding along those lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice, or any parts thereof. The Order will come into effect on 7 October 2023, for a period of two days and is required to facilitate the holding of an event on the highway, namely the Guildford 10k running event. The temporary closure will not apply to such vehicles being used in connection with the said event, or to anything done on the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a traffic marshal, or any sign placed by Surrey Police. Emergency access will be maintained for the police, fire brigade and ambulance services and for organisations responsible for dealing with the loss of supplies of gas, electricity, water or electronic communications, to premises in the area and for the removal of any obstruction to traffic. The Council are satisfied that, in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road to which this Order relates, or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising, vehicular access to premises situated in the aforesaid lengths of roads, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted, save as indicated above.
The prohibition will only be operative while the relevant signs are displayed, though it is anticipated that the closure will only take effect between 7am and 9.30am on 8 October, save that High Street between Quarry Street and North Street will be closed from 6pm on 7 October until 10am on 8 October.
The existing prohibition of traffic in the said length of High Street and the one-way driving restriction in Market Street, imposed by The County Council of Surrey (Guildford) (Traffic Regulation) Order 1987 (as amended) will be suspended whilst this Order operates. Access for pedestrians will be unaffected.
The Council are also satisfied that the event to which the Order relates cannot be held otherwise than on a road. Traffic will be diverted via the A247 and the A3.

Walton Lane (D3875) Weybridge Temporary Traffic Management Order 2023
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of; a) the northern arm of Walton Lane (D3875) Weybridge as extends from its junction with the access to “Weybridge Rifle and Pistol Club” to its junction with the southern arm of (D3875) Walton Lane; and b) Suspend “The Borough of Elmbridge (Desborough Channel Bridges, Walton Lane Weybridge) (One-Way Traffic) Order 1994 in its entirety and Suspend any other Order that imposes a One-Way system of Traffic on the northern arm of (D3875) Walton Lane Weybridge. Alternative Route: Walton Lane. This Order is required to facilitate replacement telegraph pole works for, or on behalf of BT Openreach. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 day between the hours of 8am and 4pm during the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 10 October 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times via the operatives on site, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists.
Upper Street (C46) Shere Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Upper Street (C46) Shere. Alternative Route: Gomshall Lane, and (A25) Shere Road, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to facilitate fibre optic connection works for, or on behalf of Clancy Group. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 5 days between the hours of 9am and 6pm within 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 09 October 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians, dismounted cyclist, and dismounted equestrians will be maintained at all times. It will not be possible to maintain access through the closure for emergency services, residents and businesses and all vehicular traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route. The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
Croft Road (D5427) Godalming Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.1) 2023
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of; (a) Croft Road (D5427) Godalming; and (b) suspend “The Surrey County Council D5427 Croft Road Godalming Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2022” in its entirety. Alternative Route: (B2130) Brighton Road, (A3100) Flambard Way, and Holloway Hill or this route in reverse. This Order is required to facilitate access to telegraph pole and overhead cabling works for, or on behalf of BT Openreach. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 day between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 13 October 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, via the operatives on site, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists.
Potters Lane (D233) Send Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Potters Lane (D233) Send which extends from the outside of the property ‘’Hillrising 115 Potters Lane’’ to approximately 63m Southwards.
The effect of which will be to: – 1. Prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Potters Lane (D233), Send. 2. Suspend “The Surrey County Council Potters Lane (D233), Send Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2022” in its entirety.
Alternative Route – Send Road (A247) and Send Hill (D232) or the same route in reverse.
The Order is required to allow Affinity Water to carry out water connections which is anticipated to be completed within 7 days, between 8:00am and 6:00pm, during the 12 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 04 October 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access for emergency vehicles and residents will be maintained with in the closure.
Brook Hill (D194) Albury Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to:- (a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Brook Hill (D194) Albury which extends from a point 80m south of its junction with Brook Lane to the southern property boundary of Southside Cottage; and (b) suspend “The Surrey County Council Burrows Lane (D227) Gomshall and Brook Hill (D194) Albury Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2022” insofar as it relates to the length of Brook Hill as specified above only. This Order is required to enable BT/Openreach to carry out ducting works, which is anticipated to be completed within 3 days, between 8am and 6pm, during the 12 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 3 October 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in force 24 hours per day, and the suspension of the Order will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of road including access by emergency vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists. Alternative Route – August Lane, Farley Heath Road, Woodhill Lane, Cranleigh Road, Wondersh Common, New Road, Dorking Road, Chilworth Road, Albury Street, Sherbourne and New Road.

Notice of Modification Order Section 53 of The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981
Surrey County Council Rights of Way Definitive Map and Statement Public Bridleway No. 48 (Walton And Weybridge) Definitive Map Modification Order 2023
The above Order, made on 31 August 2023, if confirmed as made, will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding a public bridleway from the mini roundabout located at the junction of Cottimore Lane and Regency Gardens, Walton on Thames (Grid ref 511357 166409) and proceeding in a south-easterly direction to the junction with Rydens Road, opposite the junction with Normanshurst Road (Grid ref 511743 165965), a total distance of 620 metres.

Any representation or objection relating to the Order must be sent in writing to the Countryside Access Team (quoting reference DW/TJ/CP585), at Surrey County Council, Merrow Depot, Merrow Lane, Guildford GU4 7BQ not later than 30 October 2023. Applicants are requested to state the grounds on which it is made. If no representations or objections are duly made to the Order, or to any part of it, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Council instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State (or part of it if the authority has by notice to the Secretary of State so elected under paragraph 5 of Schedule 15 to the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981) may itself confirm the Order (or that part of the Order). If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in whole or in part, any representations and objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.
