What is happening?

DARLINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND CLEARWAY) 2023 BLACKWELLGATE, GRANGE ROAD & CONISCLIFFE ROAD, DARLINGTON

Darlington Borough Council intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an Order under the provisions of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be:

To temporarily introduce no stopping at any time (clearway) and the prohibition of the driving of vehicles on the following roads: SKINNERGATE

From Its Junction with Conlscllffe Road northwards for 15metres

It is anticipated that the closure will be effective between 1900hours and 0700hours only. BLACKWELLGATE

From its junction with Coniscliffe Road eastwards to the western boundary of 40 Blackwellgate

An alternative route will be signed via Houndgate, Feethams, Victoria Road, West Street. It is anticipated that the closure will be effective between 1900hours and 0700hours only. CONISCLIFFE ROAD

From its junction with Skinnergate westwards to Its junction with Hogarth Court

An alternative route will be signed via Blackwellgate, Houndgate, Feethams, Victoria Road, West Street. GRANGE ROAD

From the north side of Northumberland Street junction northwards to its junction with Coniscliffe Road

An alternative route will be signed via Northumberland Street and West Street. CONISCLIFFE ROAD

From its junction with Hogarth Court westwards to the junction with West Street

An alternative route will be signed via Blackwellgate, Houndgate, Feethams, Victoria Road, West Street. Works to be carried out in phases as described above.

And to temporarily suspend the One Way on Northumberland Street from its junction with West Street eastwards to its junction with Grange Road and to implement One Way from its junction with Grange Road westwards to its junction with West Street to allow traffic to travel in the opposite direction as part of a diversion route.

The Order is necessary to allow highway refurbishment works.

The maximum duration of the temporary restrictions

under this Order is 18 months commencing from

2nd October 2023, it is anticipated that the

restrictions will be effective for 3 months.
