A38 Trunk Road - Prohibition Of Traffic For Resurfacing & Associated Maintenance Works

What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a)
THE A38 TRUNK ROAD (MARLEY HEAD TO WRANGATON)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (a) has made an Order on the A38 trunk road in Devon to allow resurfacing and associated maintenance works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to take place overnight (20.00 to 06.00) commencing on or after 18 September 2023 and be completed by 6 October 2023.

The effect of the Order will be:
(a) to impose a mandatory 50 mph speed limit on the A38 westbound from 230 metres east of South Brent Junction to 140 metres west of Wrangaton Cross Junction;

(b) to impose a mandatory 10 mph speed limit on the above length of the A38 whilst convoy working is taking place;

(c) authorise the closure of the A38 westbound from Marley Head Junction to South Brent Junction;

(d) authorise the closure of the westbound entry slip road at Marley Head Junction, the westbound entry slip road at South Brent Junction and the westbound exit slip road at Wrangaton Cross Junction;

(e) authorise the closure of the laybys adjacent to the length of the A38 given at (c) above;

During the closures, traffic will be diverted via junctions of the A38 and local roads.

The closures (which will not apply to emergency service, traffic officer or works vehicles) speed limits, and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the works.

The Order will come into force on 16 September 2023 and have a maximum duration of 18 months.
