City of York, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles

What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on the 7" day of September 2023 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7) & (8). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (9), (10) & (11).

(1)  GREENGALES LANE. WHELDRAKE

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Greengales Lane, Wheldrake between its junctions with the entrance drive to West House Farm and a location 225 metres south east of said junction (closed road) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0830hrs on Monday, 11 September 2023 and ending at 1630hrs on Tuesday, 12 September 2023 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0830hrs and 1630hrs each day. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Crockey Hill Road, A19, A64, Elvington Lane, Wheldrake Lane.

(2) ROAD A1237 FROM MAIN STREET KNAPTON UP TO AND INCLUDING THE A59 ROUNDABOUT. POPPLETON

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Road A1237 From Main Street Knapton Up To And Including The A59 Roundabout, Poppleton between a location 210 metres south of the roundabout controlled junction with the A59 and the roundabout controlled junction with the B1224 Wetherby Road (closed road) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Monday, 11 September 2023 and ending at 0500hrs on Wednesday, 13 September 2023 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 2000hrs and 0500hrs each night. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via A59, A1036 Tadcaster Road, A64.

(3) TOWTHORPE ROAD LEVEL CROSSING. HAXBY

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Towthorpe Road Level Crossing, Haxby (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2315 hrs on Monday, 11 September 2023 and ending at 0600 hrs on Friday, 15 September 2023 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 2315hrs and 0600hrs each night. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Towthorpe Road, Strensall Road, A1237, Haxby Road, York Road and Station Road.

(4) SHAMBLES & PAVEMENT. YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Shambles, York between the junction with Pavement and the projected southern boundary of property No. 23 (closed road) and in that length of footway on the northern side of Pavement, York between the junction with Shambles and the junction with Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate (closed footway) during the period when hostile vehicle mitigation works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0730 hrs on Monday, 11 September 2023 and ending at 1700 hrs on Friday, 06 October 2023 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Low Ousegate, Spurriergate, Market Street, Feasegate, Church Street outside of Footstreet hours only. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will also be signed during the works period.

(5) MURTON FOOTPATH NO 30/1/10 (CONTINUATION). MURTON

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath on Murton PROW Footpath No. 30/1/10, Murton (closed footpath) due to danger arising from an unsafe bridge, commencing at 0001 hrs on Wednesday, 13 September 2023 and ending at 2359hrs on Wednesday, 13 March 2024 (danger period) or at a time when the danger has been remedied whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure public safety. This Order continues the temporary road closure Notice which had an end date of 2359hrs on Tuesday, 12 September 2023.

(6) MURTON FOOTPATH NO 30/9/10 (CONTINUATION). MURTON

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath on Murton PROW Footpath No. 30/9/10, Murton (closed footpath) due to danger arising from an unsafe bridge, commencing at 0001 hrs on Wednesday, 13 September 2023 and ending at 2359hrs on Wednesday, 13 March 2024 (danger period) or at a time when the danger has been remedied whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure public safety. This Order continues the temporary road closure Notice which had an end date of 2359hrs on Tuesday, 12 September 2023.

(7) STRENSALL FOOTPATH NO. 3/13/10 (CONTINUATION). STRENSALL

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath on Strensall PROW No. 3/13/10, Strensall (closed footpath) due to danger arising from a landslip within that length, commencing at 0001 hrs on Wednesday, 22 February 2023 and ending at 2359hrs on Wednesday, 23 August 2023 (danger period) or at a time when the danger has been remedied whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure public safety. This Order continues the temporary road closure Notice which had an end date of 2359hrs on Tuesday, 21 February 2023.

(8) SKELTON FOOTPATH NO 11/6/10 (CONTINUATION). SKELTON

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath on Skelton PROW Footpath No. 11/6/10, Skelton (closed footpath) due to danger arising from an unsafe bridge, commencing at 0001 hrs on Friday, 08 September 2023 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 27 October 2023 (danger period) or at a time when the danger has been remedied whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure public safety. This Order continues the temporary road closure Notice which had an end date of 2359hrs on Thursday, 07 September 2023.

(9) BACK LANE FROM OPPOSITE PARISH HALL DENNIS STREET. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Back Lane From Opposite Parish Hall Dennis Street, York between its junctions with Dennis Street and St Denys Road (closed road) during the period when building demolition works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001 hrs on Friday, 15 September 2023 and ending at 2359hrs on Sunday, 26 November 2023 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Piccadilly, Merchantgate, Walmgate.

(10) HULL ROAD & LAWRENCE STREET. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Hull Road & Lawrence Street, York (i) on Hull Road between the junctions of Green Dykes Lane and Siward Street and (ii) on Lawrence Street between the junctions with Lansdowne Terrace and Green Dykes Lane (closed roads) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1900hrs on Friday, 15 September 2023 and ending at 0300hrs on Monday, 25 September 2023 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, the 'ONE WAY' direction of traffic flow in Garrow Hill Avenue and Siward Street are suspended during the period of physical closure to allow two-way traffic flow in the said roads when the closure is put into effect. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Hull Road; A64; Selby Road; Main Street, Fulford; Fulford Road; Cemetery Road, Barbican Road.

(11) TAMWORTH ROAD. YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Tamworth Road, York between its roundabout controlled junction with Water Lane and a location 20 metres south-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when sewer maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Tuesday, 19 September 2023 and ending at 1430hrs on Tuesday, 19 September 2023 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Arlington Road, Water Lane.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
