Cheddar Gorge Road Race Events 2023 and 2024

Notice is hereby given that on 1st day of September 2023 Somerset Council made the above Order in exercise of the provisions of Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as previously advertised on the 24th day of August 2023 to introduce temporary prohibition of vehicles including cyclists as specified in the Schedules. The Order will be made to facilitate the 2023 and 2024 Cheddar Gorge Road Race Events is in the interest of public safety. The Order shall come into operation on the 7th day of September 2023 on the roads and times as specified in the Schedules and will remain in force for eighteen months. The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs. Exemptions are provided in the Order for emergency vehicles, residents (by presenting proof of address) and vehicles associated with the event and for cyclists who dismount.

Velvet Bottom, Cheddar – For its entire length.
Priddy Mill Drove, Cheddar – For its entire length.
B3135 Plummers Lane, Cheddar – From its junction with the B3371 Yoxter Road in a south easterly direction to its junction with Priddy Mill Drove.
B3135 The Cliffs Road leading on to the B3135 The Cliffs, Cheddar – From the junctions with the B3135
Plummers Lane and the B3371 Yoxter Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 4660 metres.
B3371 Yoxter Road, Priddy – For its entire length.

Schedule 2
Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles between the hours of 0830 and 1530 on Saturday 28th September 2024
Velvet Bottom, Cheddar – For its entire length.
Priddy Mill Drove, Cheddar – For its entire length.
B3135 Plummers Lane, Cheddar – From its junction with the B3371 Yoxter Road in a south easterly direction to its junction with Priddy Mill Drove.
B3135 The Cliffs Road leading on to the B3135 The Cliffs, Cheddar – From the junctions with the B3135 Plummers Lane and the B3371 Yoxter Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 4660 metres.
B3371 Yoxter Road, Priddy – For its entire length.

Statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order
a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; or b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
