M20 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 7 TO 5) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the M20 Motorway in the County of Kent, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order is to: -
1. authorise the phased full weekend closure of –
(a) the London-bound carriageways of the M20 between Junction 6 (A229) and Junction 5 (A20);
(b) the London-bound distributor road adjacent to the M20 between Junctions 6 (A229) and Junction 5 (A20);
(c) all slip roads leading to and from these lengths of carriageway; and
(d) the slip road leading to the London-bound carriageway of the M20 at Junction 7 (A249).

2. impose a 24-hour 50mph speed limit on the London-bound carriageways of the M20 between Junction 6 (A229) and Junction 5 (A20).

These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake bridge deck works and associated works.
It is expected that the work will last for approximately one month starting on or after Friday 22nd September 2023.
The full weekend closures will take place between 20:00 on Fridays and 06:00 on Mondays (maximum period).
Please consult National Highways website for further details.

The Order will come into force on 20th September 2023 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete. Traffic affected by the closures will be diverted via other junctions of the M20 either by the main
carriageway or the distributor road, and by using the M2, A229, and A249. The temporary closures, speed restrictions and
diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
