Temporary Closure of Middle Street, Newton Road, Wyndham Street, Reckleford Triangle, Central Road and Sherborne Road
Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, propose to make an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along:
Phase 1 – Middle Street leading into Newton Road – from outside the property Number 2 Middle Street leading into Newton Road for a distance of 20 metres and Newton Road southwards for a distance of 30 metres. A total distance of 50 metres;
Phase 2 – Sherborne Road – from the junction with A30 Reckleford south-westwards for 180 metres and Reckleford Triangle from the junction with Sherborne Road northwards to the A30 Reckleford, a distance of 25 metres. A total distance of 205 metres;
Phase 3 – Middle Street leading into Wyndham Street – from 28 metres southwards from the junction with Wyndham Street leading into Wyndham Street northwards for a total distance of 65 metres;
Phase 4 – Middle Street leading into Wyndham Street – from 28 metres southwards from the junction with Wyndham Street leading into Wyndham Street northwards to the junction with A30 Reckleford, a distance of 90 metres. A total distance of 118 metres; and
Phase 5 – Middle Street and Central Road from the junction with the bus station to Middle Street in a southbound direction only. Newton Road, Wyndham Street, Reckleford Triangle and Sherborne Road - Phased resurfacing works for all the roads.
This Order will enable South West Highways Ltd on behalf of Somerset Highways to carry out phased works to widen footpaths, install new kerbs, realign kerb lines, installation of new drainage and street furniture and all associated works including resurfacing works. The Order becomes effective on 21st September 2023 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The works are expected to commence on 25th September 2023 and last until 31st January 2024 for a total of 150 days.
