Commercial Road, Temporary Prohibition Of Stopping Due To Water Works

What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE A13 GLA ROAD (COMMERCIAL ROAD, LONDON BOROUGH OF TOWER HAMLETS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF STOPPING) ORDER 2023

1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that it has made the above-named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

2. The purpose of the Order is to enable new water mains installation works to take place at A13 Commercial Road.

3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from stopping:

(1) on Commercial Road between its junctions with Caroline Street and Butcher Row;

(2) in the Parking and Disabled Persons only bays outside Nos 577-583 Commercial Road;

(3) in the Loading and Disabled Persons only bays outside Nos 564-568 Commercial Road, Nos.609-621 Commercial Road and Nos.635-639 Commercial Road;

This Order also permits all vehicles to use the bus lanes on the:

(1) westbound carriageway of Commercial Road between its junctions with Butcher Row and Sutton Street;

(2) eastbound carriageway of Commercial Road between its junctions with Sutton Street and Butcher Row.

The Order will be effective at certain times from 8:00 AM on 4th September 2023 until 6:00 PM on 7th January 2024 or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibition will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;

(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.
