(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER NUMBER 2 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council have made an Order to temporarily close the lengths of roads, introduce a one-way system and to restrict the speed of all vehicular traffic on the following roads shown below in the County of Northumberland.
The Order is to be effective from the 2nd September 2023 until the 31st December 2024.
Road Closure:
Road closures will be in place on the following lengths of roads:-
A1061 Shankhouse Roundabout to A192 Laverock Roundabout heading in an easterly direction for a distance of 650 metres.
A1061 Laverock Roundabout to Shankhouse Roundabout heading in a westerly direction for a distance of 650 metres.
A1061 Laverock Hall Road from its junction with A192 Laverock Roundabout to its junction with A1061 South Newsham Road a distance of 1120 metres.
A1061 South Newsham Road westbound lane from its junction with A193 Links Road to its junction with A1061 South Newsham Road a distance of 1520 metres.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the A193 Rotary Way, Broadway, Renwick Road, Cowpen Road A189 Spine Road and vice versa.
One Way System:
A one-way system will be in place and all traffic will be required to travel in an eastbound direction from its junction with the B1523 South Newsham Road to its junction with the A193 Links Road Roundabout for a distance of 1520 metres.
This will be in operation 24 hours per day every day and will be effective from and including 2nd September 2023 until 31st December 2024.
Speed Restriction:
Speed restrictions will be in place on the following lengths of roads and no vehicular traffic shall travel in excess of 30mph on those roads shown below:-
A1061 South Newsham Road eastbound lane from 50 mph down to 30 mph starting at its junction with A1061 Laverock Hall Road roundabout heading in an easterly direction for a distance of 855 metres.
A1061 South Newsham Road eastbound lane from 40 mph down to 30 mph from its point 142 metres west of its junction with A1061 South Newsham Roundabout heading in an easterly direction for a distance of 1808 metres.
B1523 South Newsham Road northbound lane from 40 mph down to 30 mph from its junction with A1061 South Newsham Road heading in a northerly direction for a distance of 78 metres.
B1523 South Newsham Road southbound lane from 40 mph down to 30 mph from its point 78 metres north of its junction with A1061 South Newsham Road heading in a southerly direction for a distance of 78 metres.

The road closures speed restriction and one-way traffic restrictions have been requested by Northumberland County Council, Morgan Sindall, Centurion Site Services and Chevron Traffic Management to carry out surveys in order to construct new alignments of the highway, including new roundabouts, junctions, accesses and station for the Northumberland Line Rail Project and existing level crossing maintenance works.
In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.
