Notice - Extension to "The Surrey County Council Public Footpath from Castle Road to Willows Path, Epsom T6093 (Rights of Way route 67) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023"

"The Surrey County Council Public Footpath from Castle Road to Willows Path, Epsom T6093 (Rights of Way route 67) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023" which was made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, on the grounds that works were being or were proposed to be executed on, or near, the above mentioned pathways and came in to operation on 27 February 2023, was due to expire on 26 August 2023 and which prohibits to all traffic (including pedestrians and cyclists) from entering or proceeding in that length of the public footpath from Castle Road to Willows Path, Epsom T6093 (Rights of Way route 67) that is carried by the "Castle Road Footbridge, has been extended by Surrey County Council until 26 February 2024.

This Temporary Traffic Order is required on grounds of safety to enable Centurion to carry out remedial works to the "Castle Road Footbridge" and/or maintenance works. These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible within the additional 6-month period of operation of the Temporary Order, which commenced on 27 February 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary prohibition which is anticipated to be required for 24 hours each day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists and equestrians will be maintained via the footway to Castle Road, Dorking Road, Wells Road and, the public footpath from Wells Road to Wheelers Lane T6035 (Rights of Way route 71).

A24 Ashley Road and B290 Ashley Road, Epsom Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023 Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of the southbound carriageway to:- a) A24 Ashley Road, Epsom that extends from its junction with B290 Ashley Road and A24 Ashley Avenue, for a distance of 50m. b) B290 Ashley Road, Epsom that extends from its junction with A24 Ashley Road and A24 Ashley Avenue, for a distance of 50m. This Traffic Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to carry out traffic signal refurbishment and/ or maintenance and/or highway maintenance and/or surfacing works. These works are anticipated to be carried out in phases, within 2 weeks of the 18-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 11 September 2023. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closures will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

Access for pedestrians will be maintained at all times under direction of operatives and/or signs displayed on site. Access for residents, businesses, emergency services, cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times via the alternative route: -

Ashley Avenue, South Street, Woodcote Road, Avenue Road, Worple Road and Ashley Road.

Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle's owner.
